some interesting um stuff by barry jackson today

Fisch is an average playcaller and awful QB evaluator. He was given a top 5 pick to mentor and lost the job after one year. The only reason he got that job in the first place is because of his prior relationship with Bradley in Seattle. Two seasons later and a failed stint with the Jags and his mythological status continues to grow. Go look at how Fisch's offenses performed against the best competition it faced during his time here. Failure. Couple of garbage time TDs to make things look better than they actually were. He beat up on awful competition.

Lets just forget that Golden picked him. That should be enough of a taint.

If Jedd is an "average playcaller" that makes Coley a girls JV Lacrosse coach.

Coley is absolute garbage in regards to play calling, game day management, and mid game adjustments. He's one of the worst I've seen. I've been saying it since halfway through his first season but the only reason he isn't more hated around here is because everyone's attention the last couple of years has been on Golden and Onfrio, and as such all the hatred has been spewed in that direction and Coley has gone relatively under the radar.

He's absolutely horrible as a playcaller...I can't reiiterate this enough. Anyone that wouldn't want Jedd over Coley is outside their **** mind.

Yes he can recruit...but who the **** cares. I want my "OC" to "OC"...let position coaches and other guys on staff recruit. Going with a rah-rah recruiter as his X's and O's guy is one of the many mistakes that Golden will eventually look back at as part of his demise here.

Can anyone be judged off coaching the jags? I know Morris and Pickory were terrible before and after Fisch. Turnover machines that he made get draft thoughts. He build plays with obvious outlets so the QB doesn't always force it. Coley reminds me of Whipple. Always looking for big plays. Fisch is a better play caller hands down but who can call good games with Al Golden and probably D No having their input. Its a **** shame we have to endure that

Who cares what Coley is or isn't? Jedd Fisch isn't a good playcaller and you add to the fact that he would be coaching the likes of Preston Dewey, Gray Crow, Ryan Williams and dopey Kevin Olsen if he had his way and he can GTFO too. Longing for mediocrity because the current guy stinks is asinine. All this stuff about I want an OC who is an OC seems silly too. You don't want the guy running the offense and has the dual role as QB coach to be able to identify good QBs? Who's job is it then? We leaving it up to Carroll? Ice? Scott? He has proven to be a bad evaluator of QBs at the college level. He may not need to recruit RBs and WRs but he **** sure better be able to identify and recruit a good QB.

How can anyone say Coley is a bad play caller? He hand picked Kaaya first off, and then proved he's got a good eye by making a true freshmen already turn heads in the NFL. I get that he had all American talent around him, but he made some big time throws in heat.
Jeff first off was really cute and pushed the tempo too fast considering the fact our defence always sucked and he knew it. He made it seem like there was a disconnect in the gameplan and ran a bunch of trick plays every game and he didn't know how to give duke the ball without handing it off. Coley made Duke one of the best ever this season and not only by running the ball and upper his value.
Coley has flaws but he's a new OC what's Jedd's excuse?

Wow, that is an absolutely awful post. Coley, like Golden and Donofrio, is in way over his head. He is an awful OC, who is a decent recruiter

Absolutely boggles my ******* mind that anyone would defend Coley.

Nothing on this board surprises me anymore after all the Golden defenders that infected this site the last year but ....wow.

Jedd was an OC one year longer than Coley, if you give Coley the new guy excuse. I liked Jedd a lot. He actually made pickory have a half decent season (outside of the BC game) and Morris was much better under Jedd.

I liked Fisch's playcalling. It didn't always work out, but he was clearly manipulating tendencies -- he was trying to call plays in contexts where the expectation was for something else. He was doing counterintuitive stuff that -- when it did work -- had a tendency to pay off pretty big (and when it didn't, left him open to charges of terrible playcalling). His last year, with Morris, was a big-play machine.

Coley might very well be best recruiter on our staff. Losing hurts tremendously. Also, don't discount the fact Golden is handcuffing Coley with play-calling. There has been rumors flying around that Golden cuffed a couple of times this past season. Plus, there is also additional rumors that Golden didn't like the aggressive approach Fisch took at times. Golden wanted to run the ball more and slow the game down.

I prefer to keep Coley.

EXACTLY!

These clowns love diddling themselves to Ned ****. He's such a genius it took him two years to get fired by a guy who was his friend. Weren't they dead last in scoring this year?

The dude didn't recruit, had a terrible eye for QB talent, and failed miserably every time we played a good team.

Never understood the Fish hype, and his horrific failure uncoordinating the Jaguar offense confirmed what I thought of him.

You don't have to talk about or defend Coley to state that Fish sucks. Just ask Gus Bradley. He probably never once mentioned Coley when he fired failure Fish.

You're the one caught up in comparing diarrhea to firm stool.

Doesn't matter when his O can't convert a 3rd down, or constantly stalls in the red zone. Give me a great play caller and let the rest of the staff recruit. Results can recruit as well as a coach, and Fisch will get results. He's a smart guy, and Kaaya is a smart QB. It would be a match made in Heaven.
Coley at least can facking recruit dammit man fvck this **** getting tiring

At that point we simply needed a warm body to fill a void. No one ever thought he'd be a starter at QB. We needed depth there, and badly.
Fisch offered Gray Crow a scholarship as a QB. End this thread
