I personally believe that the presence of the search firm makes it highly unlikely that Jurich is going to be recommended as a viable candidate. If we are also to believe that the firm is solely focused on sitting AD's (and not Associate AD's) then a guy like Jeff Purinton from Alabama likely won't be in the mix either. With that said, here is a list of viable candidates to keep an eye on:

Doug Knuth (Nevada) - Nevada is a really difficult program to win at and he's made really solid hires in Jay Norvell for football and Eric Musselman and Steve Alford for basketball. Has also been an Associate AD at Utah and Michigan State.

Brian White (FAU) - Name has been mentioned quite a bit around these parts and not sure if you need a national search firm for a guy who is 90 minutes up the road. Still, he does a really good job at FAU and comes from strong bloodlines with his brother the AD at Tennessee and his father the long-time AD at Duke. There's also the Lane Kiffin connection...

Mike Hill (Charlotte) - Spent 25 years at UF, most recently as their Executive Associate AD. Charlotte hasn't exactly been an athletics juggernaut (although they just moved up to FCS in football) but think that the quarter century in UF's AD makes him an attractive candidate.

If that dude hired Willie Taggart, then that's a hard NO from me!

Taggart was not a bad hire for FAU
I wouldn’t say he was a good hire either but I get the hire. He was successful at the mid level programs and Lane used FAU as a rebuilding opportunity. Probably hoping for the same.

If they don't recommend Jurich as the #1 candidate, that search firm is a waste of f#cking money.
IF the infighting is as prevalent as being posted about here, Jurich allegedly being one side's AD of choice could be a no go.

We've been told about the BOT boogeymen trying to fight the new guard. The old guard has been entrenched and has been winning for about 20 years. Not sure I why anyone is so sure they'll eventually lose this time around.

He hasn’t worked in 4 years

Correct, he was railroaded by Louisville, exonerated, and then got a big fat settlement. Been chilling since then. My guess is he'd come back to finish his career on a high note. And I'll bet you a box of donuts Pitino would leave Iona for UM if Jurich was AD.

Also,

Jurich.

Taggart was not a bad hire for FAU

Willie Arthur Taggart is now 10-10 at FAU, after FAU went 26-13 under Kiffin; and prior to FAU, Taggart went 9-12 at FSU. Yet, he was a good hire? Oh, he was also:
16-20 at Western Kentucky
24-25 at USF
7-5 at Oregon

For a grand total record at the G5 & P5 level at a remarkable: 66-72. I’m not sure if I ever seen a coach w/ a sub .500 record over 4 schools ever be considered a “good hire.”

Lol!
