I’m familiar with the italicized yet not the underline. However, i wasn’t a public school player and am not familiar with the FLHS sports landscape pre-2010.

I hear you on your main point though
Basically, when you hit 9th grade, you needed to pick a school and stay there if it was private and if you went to a public school it needed to be in your zone. If you wanted to transfer after that, your family needed to make a physical address move or you needed to appeal a special situation otherwise you had to play sub varsity for a year.
Coaches couldn't coach AAU or 7v7 type stuff and get a player from that organization and absolutely couldn't follow a coach to another school even if you moved and be varsity eligible right away.
Yeah, ppl still found a way to cheat and look for loopholes, but cheaters will always cheat no matter how many hurdles you put in their path.

Yeah, the formula they use to rank the teams is a secret and they won't share it with anyone which I was never comfortable with. We requested it to better understand what we needed to focus on to put ourselves in the best situation and was told it would not be released to anyone.
They say it's a combo of record and SOS, but in my experience winning games far and away trumped SOS. If you have a better SOS, you still need to win the games regardless or you will see teams ahead of you with a weaker SOS but better record.
It really makes zero sense at all. STA’s only loss was their first game against Mater Dei by 3 points. They are ranked in the top 8 by the end of the regular season. Somehow, they are punished for winning states including a 29-0 shutout in the state championship game.

Then despite excluding STA from their final top 8, the model goes on to predict STA will win the open division top 8 best of best playoffs the following year. Systematically Absurdities entering into sports which have clear, simple winners and losers. I use STA because they are an egregious example but there are a number of schools that could be used.

Chaminade finishes fifth in the regular season last year. Cardinal Newman beats them in the state championship game, and eliminates Carrollwood Day in the game before the finals. How now does Carrollwood Day get ranked in the top 8 but Newman and/or Chaminade doesn’t? Chaminade lost by less points (3 versus 15) in a further round of the playoffs! How does Carrollwood’s loss against Cardinal Newman seemingly propel them when Carrollwood wasn’t in the top 8 at the end of the regular season?

It appears they are using fortune cookies, an octopus w/ a magic 8 ball, and dice to determine who gets in.

Yeah it must be somehow the SOS being altered due to teams losing playoff games but honestly Im just guessing as it makes no sense as you say.
Maxpreps has one system and the FHSAA has another. They are similar but not exaclty the same. I think they use one for regular season and districts and then another after that.
It's all more complicated than it needs to be.
I got out of coaching a few years ago after doing it for several decades. There is a list a mile long of why I did that, but this stuff and all the transferring all the time were very frustrating.

south fla parents dont care they have 7 yrt olds with 14 game szns...**** all of the youth parks are already practicing again RIGHT NOW. smh
****…poor kids. All we’ve had up here in Georgia is equipment handout and a couple of optional camps. My son missed the first because he was away at summer camp, but went to the second, and it was taught by the West Forsyth high school coaches and some of the players. Then they have evals next week. Practice starts third week of July.

And he’s only had 10 game seasons each year, but the regular season is 7 games and they’ve made it to the championship each year. His burnout starts kicking in around game 6 because they also have practice three days a week. I still haven’t figured out the best way to help him through that.

Anyway, carry on y’all. I’ve been wondering how the new FHSAA rule was going to impact things, so I’m just reading and learning here. Good stuff.

Glad that No cut Nick has a d1 cornerback to go up against in practice. Hill Played on Hellstar’s 7on7 team with ‘28 carol city ATH Aden Johnson.

Im guessing the next one on the way is Bryce Williams who is currently committed to Nebraska?

I don’t understand the benefit of transferring cross-country to Carol City tbh.
