Social media’s impact on football coaches

You absolutely can. But the way you choose to use your free speech can cause negative consequences like Franchise laid out. You reap what you sow
people have to take responsibility for their actions and for what they say, but they still can freely exercise that right without someone trying to squelch it by calling them a "****". how pointless is that ?

So when Jon Richt tweets that he’s praying for an injured athlete it’s cool for our fans to take that moment and attack him. But I’m wrong for using my free speech to call those fan ****s?

straw man argument won't help. go do your homework

No, I agree that was a **** move from fans at that moment, but when will the right time be?? lil jon has to accept it, he works for th University of Miami, it comes with the territory. If he doesn't like what is being said, QUIT!

@The Franchise called it after the UVA game. That was when Richt lost this fanbase. What's lost in the endless debates of how bad the offense as a whole looks in terms of philosophy, execution, and general schematics; is that the QB was flagrantly mishandled. We knew what we had with Malik and his Cinderella magic was gone once the Pitt game arrived. Richt kept going to the same dried up well hoping to find water that was not yet discovered. He should've rode Perry and the growing pains that come with a RS Fr QB. Going 2-2 over that 4-game stretch would've been sufficient with most Miami fans and we likely would've won the Coastal considering we beat Pitt. What also hasn't been mentioned is how Richt never took advantage of the RS rule with Jarren Williams. If Richt's smart, he's splitting reps evenly with Williams and Perry during the bowl and trying to see what JW has. Because as of right now, we go into next year playing UF with only 1 truly experience QB in Perry.

Both of those things have been mentioned many times.

Well that’s just not true at all, considering two of those programs have won titles, penn st, Stanford and Oregon have all been a lot closer than us in the last 15 years, and the other schools are **** sec programs that have been through multiple coaching changes some highly publicized and criticized.
We have 5 in the last 30 years. None of those programs have done that. So, in fact, they don’t have the NC capability that we do. Learn to paint in those gray areas, friend.

You said last 20 years, friend. What part should I be painting? What you said simply was not true, no matter the color I use.

Stop engaging me in your foolishness. We have won 5 under 4 different coaches in the modern era, which, by definition, makes us more capable of winning NCs than the teams you mentioned.

And you’re in here talking to me about Oregon getting close 5 years ago. The same Oregon fans that quickly ran Helfrich off by the way, which doesn’t support your goofy hypothesis.

And what the fck does Stanford have to do with this? They were total garbage forever. And now they’re a 9 to 10 win team who has an occasional down year. That’s what they are.

Auburn? The same Auburn fans that greeted Chizik at the airport with jeers the day he got hired? The ones who ran him off two years after he won a NC and are raising **** trying to get Malzahn fired a year after he signed a giant extension?

Ped State? They were raising **** against Franklin two years after he got hired trying to get him fired and forced him to clean house and bring in Morehead who saved his job?

You think we’re the only fans who use social media to create toxicity? Is you crazy? Do I need to continue to drag your feeble hypothesis through the mud?

this was Tyson-Spinks

Someone here gets it.

Look at what happened to Brian Kelly in 2016. He had a 4-8 season. He self evaluated and realized he had to change things up. Overhauled the staff, and 2 years later, he's in the college football playoff. The reason people are tired of Richt is he's shown a propensity for not wanting to change things up and wants to stay comfortable with what he knows.
Yeah but y’all was acting like MR could just make changes right away lol...MR deserves a chance to make the changes that a Brian kelly was able to do..can’t keep playing HC CARIUSOL

people can voice an opinion any way they like. it's called free speech for dumbasses that don't understand the concept.

Absolutely.
Except that it's indirect, there is no name or face associated to that free speech on this site, which allows that speech to be a bit more "free".
A little different concept from the pre-social media and www. days.

Or maybe just maybe, the coach could not suck. All negativity coming from fans is warranted.

His refusal to accept clear weakness is troubling. His son is a joke yet Rick continues to employ him.
I have no problem whatsoever with Jon Richt as a person. As as qb coach it's a very different story. Mark Richt set his son up to fail. Mark had to have known that he was putting Jon in a no win situation. Put yourself in Jon's position. I'm a young inexperienced football coach looking to earn my stripes and my dad offers me the QB coach position on his staff paying about 200K. I'm taking it no questions asked! I'm actually beginning to get the impression that Mork thought that this gig would be much easier and any success he had with the UM quarterbacks he would let Jon take the credit thus kick starting Jon's career. It hasn't exactly worked out that way though has it?

Exactly. Richt and Golden got paid significant sums of money to lead the program and to identify and solve problems before they occurred. When the fans see problems and start to point them out, and the head coach, instead of solving the problem, tells us all it doesn't exist, and we are too stupid to know what we are talking about and should just shut up and buy tickets and come support the team no matter what...

We all told Richt all spring and summer that his offense was predictable and the QB and OL situations were bad. He did nothing about either. He's either too stupid or too lazy to be the HC any more. Chise is absolutely right, bringing in a high powered OC and ringing up points starting game 1 next year will be the only chance he has, but even then, what confidence are any of us going to have that he can fix the next problem that pops up before it becomes a major disaster?

Manny on the other hand, had some deficiencies in covering the pass revealed at the end of last season. He responded by creating a new position and our defense had the best year it's had in over a decade. Don't tell us we are too stupid to watch a football game and see what the glaring deficiencies are.
Information is more freely available now than ever. That is good news for most of us, but not for the lazy, corrupt, and inept.
I suggest you apply for the coaching position. You seem to have all the answers. Are you Nick saban Jr.?

Richt through his entire head coaching career has shown that he's not going to make changes. It took UGA's administration getting involved at one point. That's why everyone is acting the way they did, because there's historical facts in place saying so.

And you know what, Richt still got fired after being placed as a CEO role.

Nope, just a fan who watches football and is tired of one of the most storied programs in THE greatest hotbed of recruiting constantly underperforming. Thanks for the kind words though.
