So You Wanna Savage DC? Part II: Dave Aranda

The 4-3 vs 3-4 is a stupid argument.

Half of the NFl runs 3-4.

It's the overall philosophy that matters....aggressive vs. passive. Simple vs complex.

And this is why we can't have nice things.......

Miami used to innovate. Now we have Nebraska-itis: clinging to the old days and refusing to re-invent.

No need to reinvent some of the best defenses in college still run 4-3.... If it ain't broke

This aint the NFL where we could draft who we choose to...we recruit from SOuth Florida bruh.... 3-4 aint the way to win down here

You clearly didn't read the post, nor understand it. The personnel he uses is literally identical to the JJ 4-3. Read the OP again.

I read it and I totally understand where he is coming from smart guy a 3-4 still has 4 linebackers on the field and 3 d lineman... I like an extra explosive defensive end to disrupt in the backfeild..rather than A LB......

Give me Don Brown

Ok let me explain it to you like this, since you still very much do not get it:

In the Miami 4-3, you have a guy 260, 280, 300, and 245 lbs rushing the passer.

In the Aranda 3-4, you have a guy 260, 280, 300, and 245 lbs rushing the passer. How is it any different in terms of personnel?

The difference is where they are lined up is that 260 pound DE straight over the tackle are lined up outside the tackle shoulder? I dont want a 4-3 with a 245 pound defensive end... I mean maybe as a situational pass rusher but not starting... I would really have to see one of his games.. And the linebacker rushing from anywhere really doesnt do it for me I think its overrated... and besides I would rather have run 4 -3 nickel when covering the slot receiver rather than a LB covering a WR in space..Coaches keep linebackers out against WR's a lot of time and we always get beat I hate that I want to match up WR for corner or safety.. I dont want 3 or 4 linebackers in when they are running 3 and 4 wide and in the 3-4 defense that happens a lot. Louisvilles defense 2 years ago is exactly how A Miami defense shoud look IMO

So top scoring defenses, top 5 total defenses "dont do it for you" b/c guys are sacking the QB from all over the field? Oh and to boot you haven't even watched them play. Brilliant.

And the 260 LB DE is lined up all over, and then through slanting and stunting creates a tremendous amount of pressure......just like 4-3 defenses do.

And who wants a 245 lb DE, like Robert Mathis for example in Indy? Who needs THAT!

Might be one of the least informed porsts I've seen since the coaching change.

If you watched tonights game I hope people can see what his brand of 3-4 is, and how it would be very fun here.

Love the attacking nature of his defense! It would be fun to watch with Aranda as DC at The U... Hopefully USC isn't hot on him, especially after getting a taste of his D first hand last night.

Well usc isn't an option for him apparently. I don't know if there's any legit interest on his side or Miami side but if richt gets this guy then Holy ****
