We're third out of 15 teams. That's top 20%, not middle of the pack.

but the perception of the ACC puts up a goose egg in bowl games will be tough with perception going forward

When you look at the conference head to head it’s pretty bad.

since 2010 the acc has won just under 40% of its games against the big ten and had one good season against that conference (2016). Since 2017: it has won only 26% of its games against the big ten. It’s gotten worse over time.

Against the sec the acc has won 43% of its games since 2010 but since 2017 it has won 37% of its games.

Against the big 12 in the 2010s the acc has won 44% of its games. Since 2017, it is 45% against the big 12 but overall the sample sizes are much smaller than the big ten or sec.

pac 10? It’s the worst of all: in the 2010s the acc has won 13% of its games (3/24). Since 2017 only 1/5 games have been won. Again a smaller sample size but the trend is clear: the acc is the suckiest power five conference of the last ten years.

And has gotten suckier in the last four years. We would be worse in all of the above conferences.

Apparently some posters struggle with this but that’s okay.

Exactly. That game won't tell us much. Other than Howell, most of UNCs offensive skill position starters opted out, plus some key defenders.
