So what went wrong?

Mario and Dawson’s relationship is fractured and it’s clearly having an effect of the synergy of the offense.

Not sure how our believed best unit is now the worst unit on the team.
i can buy this... After today, for sure.

Mario, every season, believes he can wear down every team he lines up against. But, his BS only wears down his own team! Hes like an old school powerlifter who thinks the answer to every problem is to stop being a *****. Hes spends crazy amount of time and resources to recruit top athletes just to 'pound-the-rock' in every 3rd and short scenario. I wish Saban/Jimmy or whoever he confides in would pull him aside but we all know he doesn't have anyone like that in his corner as he knows it all already..

Also, I definitely understand why UGA wasn't sad to see Carson leave. He has everything you want in a QB except the mental toughness. I fully expect him to blame Toney for running the wrong route in OT! For a 5th year Senior, he has the composure of spoiled brat. I dont have to watch the post-game nonsense to know Beck and Mario probably pointed the finger at just about everyone else.

What went wrong? We have a recruiting coordinator masquerading as a HC. And, every season, by November, the team starts the see it too
you might want to watch. You couldn't be more wrong

Sitting at 4-0 and up 28-3 over FSU going into the 4th quarter 28 days ago.

Looked then like we may well be the best team in the country, but then all of sudden — except for a second-half surge against lowly Stanford — things begin to turn sour.

What happened?
I think what we’re seeing is a lack of real scheme. And by that, I mean we don’t make things easy on our players. Everything looks like it has to be won straight up no creativity, no adjustments, no effort to actually scheme guys open.

Honestly, I think Mario’s style just doesn’t fit the new era of college football. He would’ve been perfect back in the pre-NIL, pre-Transfer Portal days, when you could just stack 4- and 5-star talent three deep and physically beat the guy in front of you. That’s the kind of football he knows, line up, punch you in the mouth, win on talent. But that doesn’t fly anymore when everyone’s got talent and the game’s evolved into matchups and creativity.

We’re just too predictable on offense. There’s no motion to create confusion, no designed mismatches, no plays to make the defense hesitate. It’s like we run what we run and hope it works.

And that’s what’s so frustrating. SMU came in today with one of the worst defenses in the country (96th overall, 133rd against the pass), and we didn’t even try to exploit that. No wrinkles, no new looks, nothing. Just the same vanilla stuff. That’s Miami’s problem in a nutshell we’ve got talent, but no scheme to maximize it.

Forget scheme & play calling. We’re so undisciplined in many ways. The false start calls are obvious. But the lack of discipline or whatever you want to call it was on display with the 70-plus yard punt that ended in a touchback - misplay proved the equivalent of a 15 yd penalty. Do we know how to cover punts? We’re diving wildly on like it’s a fumble or a greased melon.

Think about this..then combine it with who our coach is.

Everyone is killing mario and i won’t defend him but all off season i was wondering why everyone was so high on this team lol. Calling it our best roster in 20 years, best oline we have had in 20 years lmao like cmon

It’s a never ending cycle with this fanbase, we overrate the talent then when we lose to teams we think we are way more talented then we want coaches gone lol

Im glad we beat fsu/nd/uf, but those teams are built to try and beat us at our own style lol, the acc is probably the most versatile conference in the country. There are so many different styles of teams lmao, so since our talent isn’t just SUPER far ahead we have to out coach these teams to win consistently
