So what went wrong?

D is great overall, not going to nitpick there. Offense is the problem despite all the talent.

The problem? - its a slow prodding offense with zero explosive plays. So you end up in a lot of 3rd / 4th and short. if you dont convert OR get a penalty and back yourself up, you ***** yourself.

Ask yourself - whens the last time we had big pass plays? Was it FSU that gave us a huge lead...
Ask yourself - whens the last time we had a run for more than 25 yards? have we had a single one?...

Lack of discipline, lack of urgency, overall stupidity, untimely interceptions, etc. We often play not to lose instead of playing to win.

Pretty much the same crap we’ve seen the past 20+ years in some shape or fashion. Nothing has changed.
Good synopsis

But playing not to loose
Playing w such razor thin margins bc of inability to grow and develop beyond cromario ball
Are my biggest factors

This is nowhere a perfect roster
But the constant playing down to inferior teams, really is a reflection of mario.
Yes players make too many mistakes
And co ordinators have been inconsistent
But it stops at CEO

6 LOSSES when double digit favorite

Yep. We play worse as a whole than the sum of our parts, an indictment on the coaches.

Sitting at 4-0 and up 28-3 over FSU going into the 4th quarter 28 days ago.

Looked then like we may well be the best team in the country, but then all of sudden — except for a second-half surge against lowly Stanford — things begin to turn sour.

What happened?
We have no reason to care after October. Every year we have **** ACC games every Miami team thinks they can sleepwalk through and our coaching staff isn't motivating enough to make them care. We need to end the season with a rival that's good. Players don't care about beating Louisville or SMU, we need Notre Dame, we need Ohio State, we need SEC teams in the back end of the schedule.

Teams adjusted to some extent.

And some of it was just the offense catching up to the analytics.

People on this board loved to clown SP+ and how low it had Miami.
SP+ was picking up on the fact that Miami’s offense, while good in down to down success rate, was far less explosive than the average team would be.
It’s fine getting 5 yards a play. But it’s not fine if that’s just all you’re getting.

That has caught up to us.

Miami had great down to down success today.
How many plays over 20 yards did it have?

You can’t score point that way.
And unfortunately that is every offense Mario has ever had absent Cam Ward.
This.

I was holding my breath every time SMU had the ball. It’s not that they’re world beaters, in fact it’s more to the point: the stuff they run (and many other teams especially when compared to us) gives them a chance to score every drive and pop big plays.

I’m holding my breath when we have the ball because I know it’s coming down to a crucial 3rd or 4th and short where we’ll most likely condense 22 guys in one spot and run.

It sucks to watch. Playing to hang on, not lose, keep it close, you name it.

Its gross.

we have always been one bad play from collapsing. the Trader INT was it this game. add on the undisciplined penalties, reverting back to horrible game mgmt, our QB looking like an emotional teenage girl at times and the refs BS and there's no way we overcome it all for win
