So UM people are throwing the players under the bus Again

Elder, Burns, Gunter, and even Crawford are all tackling better than Tracy. Elder is smaller than Howard and is tackling just fine.

True...but do you notice how all those guys tackle...low & around the thigh-pads...while Tracy tackles high, like in the video I posted. Some kids you have to custom fit a tackling technique for, I don't think Howard will ever get big & strong enough to take on powerful RBs high.

You think the coaches are telling Howard to tackle one way and the other CBs to tackle another? Again, Elder is smaller than Howard. He has made multiple excellent open field tackles. Howard's tackling issues haven't been about being run over by a bigger player, they have been about him outright whiffing on open field tackles that the other CBs are making.

In one game, Howard missed multiple tackles, including an easy open field tackle on a WR screen. A few plays later, Elder made a tackle for a loss on the same exact type of screen play, from the same position on the field. He went on to make a few more nice tackles, including open field tackles. Howard gets juked as easily as light pole would on many of this open field tackle attempts. That is a liability.

I think it was the Duke game, but can't recall for sure. I was watching the game with my 10 y.o. son and even he made some comments about that "#3" player who kept missing tackles. That problem with tackling has been consistent for Howard this season.

Well IDK, but the only missed tackle that stood out to me, was that ole tackle He made against Abdullah. But I think most of our guys have been juked, I remember the Arkansas St. RB juked Bush out His shoes...it happens. And I agree, Elder is a solid tackler.

What about the touchdown he gave up to end the game against VT? It's was one on one coverage. Please tell me how the #1 CB in the country would have made the play if the coaches used him differently.

He doesn't look like a physically imposing player on the field. I don't see him being able to kick receiver's asses one on one on the field. He actually looks small and kind of slow. I still like him as a player and think he has a high football IQ and has a knack for making a big play. I want him on the field as much as possible. I just think directing all of his failures or shortcomings entirely at the coaches is wrong. You got to take the star rating goggles off and start calling a spade a spade. Tracy Howard is good, but he's not a top corner in the country, and nothing I have seen from him would make me believe that ever will change. Just because you dominate in HS doesn't mean you will dominate in college. Are you guys seeing something I am not?

did you miss burns get beat even worse right before that on the same play, using the same coverage? only difference is the qb threw it into the ground.

Yep, impossible position to put a CB in. Don't disrupt the route, have him play off, and not a hint of a pass rush. There isn't a CB in the NFL that can defend that situation.

Its a schematic issue.

I don't think anyone is trying to say he is the top player in the country. What people are saying is he is being underdeveloped and improperly used. It's been stated repeatedly he is a physical corner who wants to press on the line. If you watch the replay of the touchdown, he is 6 yards off the receiver, then begins to backpedal and doesn't stop back pedaling until they are in the end zone, which is the complete opposite of physical. You're asking a guy who is not a shutdown corner to be a shutdown corner.
