So Jake is starting this week

Garcia scares me to death. Has some definite arm talent. And I know not a lot of experience.

But it's like he doesn't know there are defende3rs on the field. Back 7 or pass rush! Good news he looks tough enough to take a hit. The bad news is...NO pocket presence or feel for pressure at all. And he makes some BAD, BAD throws. Stairs right at coverage and fires

Pulling for him, but lot of red flags imo. I'm no QB expert.

I think we'll see a more composed & careful Jake when he's the starter...and isn't pressed into action down 21-7. Starting at 0-0 will allow him to be more patient & take what the defense gives him.

Prepping as the starter & getting more reps in with the WR will help him a lot too. He MUST avoid playing favorites (taking care of his buddies) and only throw to them if they are running the right routes & proving to be dependable. He's got to rely on the TEs heavily (as well as throwing to the RBs) and Colbie. He started having issues against Duke when: (i) he targeted players other than Mallory & Colbie and (ii) the OL play deteriorated materially as the game progressed.

He needs much better protection from the OL, TEs & RBs. Realistically, with this current OL he needs to get the ball out fast & either dump it off short, run with it, or throw it away fast if the opponent starts getting to him repeatedly. He's got to have a better gameplan for dealing with OL struggles going into the game.

This should be interesting. Four throws last week were about as bad as I have seen. I'm not dogging him yet but if he makes similar decisions we are in for a very long day.

I'd like to see us try to establish the run. We haven't done so in over a month with much success. That said being this unbalanced is a recipe for disaster with a young and inexperienced QB.

Kirby Freeman is waving hi.
