So if we do not run the table the last six games

No 3 loss SEC unless it's the champ is getting over a 2 loss miami team much less a 1 loss.
Last year Bama miami Ole Miss were last 3 all with 2.
Bama had better wins
Said we didn't have any.
Of course Clemson took Bama spot
I hope you're right....however...national media was dicussing the very possibility of this scenario today...

but what do they know?

I wouldn't be surprised if we lost at SMU and at Pitt. I am not confident we can win the ACC or make the playoffs under Mario.
Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if UM loses 2 more. Even one more is a let down from the lofty expectations of a few weeks ago. Supposedly one of the best OL in the country. A fearsome DL. Improved secondary. So, how does an unranked team defeat UM in Miami? If the talent is as good as many think, then for some reason the coaches are fowling up. But, that seems to be the perpetual story. Mario has put together a good team. He adapted to the portal. Yet, the team doesn't have the special quality that strikes fear in opponents. Is that on the coaches? On the players? Or the Miami vibe? Maybe UM should be in a conference that requires a total effort by players and coaches every week, say the SEC or Big Ten.

The contrast with Ohio State couldn't be starker. They beat unranked Wisconsin 34-0 at Wisconsin. OSU takes care of business. Only a perfect game by the opponent beats them. Bama, Georgia, and Clemson were that way when they won championships. UM currently doesn't even come close to that dominance. In the signature wins against ND and FSU, UM did everything possible to keep the game competitive. OSU would have ended those games by the 4th quarter.

Sorry. Call me a fair weather fan. But, I have already cashed in my chips on UM for this year.

It is the games where we play a mid tier team which do not rely on talent but coaching and scheme and we go into the game sleeping that scare me. SMU we have reason to show up. Syracuse, NC State, Pitt are the scary ones.

Let's hope we get to this point but I respectfully disagree. If we don't make the ACCG, even at 11-1, I believe we are out.
I suspect the loser of the ACCG will be fighting for a spot, too

If we are 11-1, that would put us easily in the top 10, imo. Probably in the 6-7 range. If we are ranked that high, there’s no chance we get left out imo

Hear me out...

Forget SEC and B1G for a moment...

The polls, FPI, SOR, etc...with a won out Virginia and Louie...

they aren't going to be slotted over Miami?

Just that alone is ouch...

Now add SEC/B1G bias....those last 7 slots are going to go very fast...

No one seems to be able to put forward a coherent math argument to the contrary...

I was on this from game 1 because I'm a data dude, and not oft for emotional hand wringing...and that's all I keep hearing...

I will be very happy to be very wrong.

11-1 Miami > 10-2 ND

Both have easy schedules moving forward.

Then you have B1G struggling to have a 4th team with 10-2 record. We will see if the SEC has 4. How in the world would a 9-3 sec team get in over a 11-1 Miami is beyond me.

b12 could have byu and TT get in especially if TT beats BYU in the title game. Both end up 12-1.

Now, there is a very real chance Miami ends up 10-2 or 9-3 which is where most had them in the preseason. The talent is there to win more. The D even with some failures has performed 10x better than 2024. The biggest concern I had at the start of the season has happened, Mesidor’s foot. Now we have 4 DE that are under 20 that have to fill that hole. The offense has struggled due to a lack of weapons. I hate calling for freshman to get more snaps but at WR and TE, I think it can help us. Moore, Trader, Schott, Gilbert, Pringle(if they finally commit to more outside runs).

Too much mathing going on. The word that doesn’t sit right with me is “easy”. Ain’t **** easy for us and this is going to be a 9-3 season and we’re playing for pop tarts again

See my last paragraph. I tend to agree.

Stanford - 3-4 with back up QB likely starting
@SMU 5-2 @wake so likely 6-2
Cuse: 3-4 @GT and UNC so likely 4-5
NCSt: 3-4 @pitt and GT so likely 3-5 but has a bye before us
@VT: 2-5 cal, UL, @fsu - I’ll say 3-7 and no need to play us tough as their season is over
@pitt: 5-2 BUT they have NCSt, @Stanford, ND, @GT. Maybe they are 7-4 or 8-3.

So we have two tough road games and 4 easy games.

We are out of the playoffs. Cant lose again
Not necessarily. Miami at 10-2, IF Notre Dame and USF keep winning, and Lousiville finishes ranked will absolutely be in the mix. Lots of top 20 teams are going to lose a lot of games over next few months.

This years team resume is much stronger than last years.

Already has 2 losses:

Notre Dame
Texas
Tennessee
LSU
