So if an 8-4 record gets Diaz and Blake fired

I mean I expected the bama blowout they have pro bowlers. I expected this but we will smash app state like 39-24.....I would want us to hold them to 17 and under. Lashlee had some plays drawn up and our wrs cooked the bama dbs at times. King needs to throw it and the OL has to block
That’s a tall order, but I hope and wish you to be correct.

An 8-4 record is unlikely to get Diaz fired.

We are an 8-4 program right now. We have an 8-4 infrastructure. The University itself, outside of a few areas of focus, is 8-4 (I feel ok saying that as a graduate).

Anything above that or slightly below is a "nice to have."

Their message is likely "be happy if/when we win 9 games and our first bowl victory since the advent of the internet. Progress."

I agree with Lu. In any case, this whole thread is a near carbon copy of the Barry Jackson BOT doesnt care thread. At the end of the day, it *appears* that the school doesnt care. When they fire Blake and hire a real AD, then you know they care. In the meantime, its pointless to have thread after thread on the same topic, we already know the answer.

8-4 won’t get Manny fired. But he won’t get a contract extension either. Manny has to win a bowl game or go 10-2 this year or next (his last season). But since he is always unprepared and so is his team, they won’t win a bowl game and he won’t get and extension.

We will have a new coach by December 25th in 2022.
Thank you for this good sir, this gave me hope! The kind of hope needed to suffer another season of manure. Please tell me even if your lying to me that Will also be getting a new AD on December 25th in 2022 since Flake will be gone as well? 🙏

Truth.

Firing a HC is "easy" if you just look at the W-L record. Firing an incompetent AD who masks his deficiencies by hitting up the big donors and "finally" completing an Indoor Practice Facility that has been on the drawing board for nearly 30 years? Now THAT would show some initiative that the BOT is able to differentiate between ****e and Shinola.

I'm just going to ask, what are the "systemic" issues that we can derive from ONE GAME against an admittedly superior opponent?

For instance, with penalties, we had fewer penalties for fewer yards than Alabama (barely). I think the targeting call was garbage, and the Harvey personal foul was very late in the game (not good, but also not decisive). I think we had 2 false starts, which were early, but that's not as bad as what we had in past years, and I'm not thrilled with a defensive offsides call, but it was on a DB, not a DL. I probably am forgetting about a couple of penalties, but those are the ones I remember.

I can agree with the "toughness" issue, in a general sense. You are one of the better and more fair posters on the board, I just think we all need to see how the players respond before we make huge judgments on this 2021 team.

What is the alternative, at least in-season? Fire all the coaches? Play all the freshmen? I get the frustration, but venting it isn't going to change this team at this moment.
Thank you for saying so. The systemic issues derive from Diaz being everyone's friend but that's who he is. It worked for Pete Carroll at SC. While I would prefer a more business-like approach he creates an environment that kids respond to favorably. He does a fine job from January-September and it's lead to consecutive strong recruiting hauls. Hopefully this Bama fiasco is 1998 Syracuse and we win the conference which is an attainable goal if we somehow TCB. Moping has been helpful this week but I'm ready to be surprised and extract some enjoyment out of this season.

Sad but true.

I watch some of app state was doing some study and they do not have speed at all. But but but the QB is mobile and a former Clemson QB and Duke qb. He can move a bit can make all the throws but he's inaccurate at times and pressure gets him rattled. They do throw alot of screens to the wr but Stevenson will bully those WRS if they try and block him. I'm pretty confident and sure we will be prepared.

Well, that would force James to have a year end meeting with manny to discuss the future of the program. And James could then say, “ 6-7 isn’t good enough at Miami and we all want to win and no one wants to win more than coach Diaz. at Mia I, we expect to compete for championships and coach Diaz has a plan to do that”

Remember when Golden went 6-7 and Blake publicly defended him? This after Golden was ignoring his calls during the off season as he was trying to back door a gig at PSU that off season? That’s when I knew Blake was a bytch, honestly. ****, it took an outrage from both fans, National Media, and certain members on the BOT to finally get him to fire Golden after the 58-0 defeat at home!

So w/ all that said, do I really think Blake, who went out on his own to pay $7m to bring Diaz here, would fire him after another sub .500 season? Not even a little. I can see him saying, “Obviously we’re all disappointed in this season, and Coach Diaz, more than anyone, is disappointed. We didn’t finish where we want, but w/ an almost entirely new staff, two 1st round guys moving on to the NFL, plus u know we’re still dealing w/ some of the side effects of Covid, it was tough; not just on us, but as a conference. I’m proud of how our guys handled adversity, the guys who graduated & earned a degree from this prestigious school.”

Some bull chit like that, I promise u.

Imo, we blow out App St, and we’ll feel good about ourselves going 2-1 into the MSU game.

Miami went downhill when recruiting became national. When recruiting was a regional game, Miami was able to keep most of the local talent home. And at that time, the gap between the SFL athletes and just about every other region was even bigger. Now, the rest of the country is training just as much as the SFL kids, and the advent of the internet/Rivals/247/YouTube allows much easier poaching.

Miami never won because of coaching. They didn’t win in spite of it, aka our coaches were competent. But they won because they had far better athletes. That’s no longer the case. And probably never will be for the reasons I mentioned. You can be recruited by anyone in the country now and you can get to their campus easily and quickly. All things that didn’t exist 30, 25, 20 years ago.

Back to the discussion at hand, 8-4 absolutely doesn’t get anyone fired. Not even a question.

I gotta disagree w/ u OBM

Let’s look at Schnelly:
Coached under both Shula & Bryant (arguably the best NFL & CFB coaches of all time)

Jimmy Johnson:
A Hall of Fame NFL Coach who had a staff full of guys who became either NFL assistants or HC’s

Dennis Erickson:
A drunk who became a tenured NFL Coach & a staff of guys who became NFL assistants or future CFB HC

Butch Davis:
A future NFL HC & a staff full of guys who became NFL assistants or HCs

And that’s where we stop. We won b/c we had talent and a high IQ level staff that was ready to be poached by other programs or the NFL.

The only staff I can recall being poached was Mario, that’s it. Other than that, we’ve had a slew of guys getting fired & going to never never land.

I mean it makes sense, no? Two failed hires (Richt and Diaz). James also didn’t address Golden at the appropriate time (IMO). And other sports at the U are floundering as well under his tenure.

LOL okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

So you can't answer the question, you can just say FIU La Tech and scream it louder.
No your point was incorrect. I pointed it out using examples of things that never happened until manny became head coach.

If you would like to correct me then have at it but you know you cant so you resort to saying it was 2 years ago. Thats an excuse.

You're a good man, sir. I realize that Saban's Death Star just obliterated our planet (psychologically), but there is plenty of time for our Canes empire to strike back at our remaining 11 opponents.

And if I may say so, let's play James Williams more. That guy is so tall that it is physically impossible for him to get his helmet low enough to target anyone...

We don't even have UF or FSU money.

UCF, USF, etc don't get the conference money we do, but I bet their alumni donations outpace ours.

The state schools in conference all likely have a better warchest than we do going forward. Alumni is the key. We may have some with big pockets, but those schools will nickel and dime it higher.

We've got an uphill battle in what has simply become a money game.

The mongoloids in this fanbase will tell you CFB doesn't need spending controls. They'll tell you unequal revenue distribution, and resource allocation don't matter. They'll cite examples of outliers like UT, that spend significant resources but still haven't found the right coach, as if to suggest the probability & likelihood of hiring the right coach don't improve with higher spending.

Essentially they will tell you this program can recapture the glory of it's heyday, if it only picks itself up from it's bootstraps and "tries harder". Perhaps one day, before they die, they'll become less oblivious of the changes in CFB within the last 40 yrs. This program can "try harder" and still achieve nothing more than mediocre results. That's what needs to be accepted here.

you really think those guys would recruit well enough not to be an 8-4 team? You really think they would be "such a great coach" we wouldn't have the occansional bad loss?

We've had bad losses just about every year of our history except a couple of seasons and that's when we had more talent than anyone else.
I do know this much, all those coaches would out coach and out recruit manure because results on the field would be better then anything manure has put forward and of course winning equals better recruiting. I also know all those coaches aren’t dog**** evaluators and recruiters like Diaz who has been here for 6 ******* years and still hasn’t recruited a D1 linebacker which has been his position since the beginning, hence are group of five talent linebacker room. Why do you love manny so much? Why do you defend a guy that owns the two worst losses in Miami history in fiu and UNC? Why do defend a guy who has shown you what he is, an in over his head coach who lacks the talent to be successful at his job? He’s shown you who he is by continuing to trot out tHe same u disciplined, unprepared and underperforming team for over three years now, dont you see it? Don’t you want better for this program abd football team? Are youGo Canes burner account or mannys?
