So if an 8-4 record gets Diaz and Blake fired

We at least at worst going 9-3 and we should beat everyone else on the schedule if the OL doesn't have mental lapses. They aren't seeing a DL like that all year and they didn't quit. So we will see....I don't want those hiccup games like UNC or nail biters.
Loving the positive vibes out of you.

Miami went downhill when recruiting became national. When recruiting was a regional game, Miami was able to keep most of the local talent home. And at that time, the gap between the SFL athletes and just about every other region was even bigger. Now, the rest of the country is training just as much as the SFL kids, and the advent of the internet/Rivals/247/YouTube allows much easier poaching.

Miami never won because of coaching. They didn’t win in spite of it, aka our coaches were competent. But they won because they had far better athletes. That’s no longer the case. And probably never will be for the reasons I mentioned. You can be recruited by anyone in the country now and you can get to their campus easily and quickly. All things that didn’t exist 30, 25, 20 years ago.

Back to the discussion at hand, 8-4 absolutely doesn’t get anyone fired. Not even a question.
I disagree with the notion Miami ‘never won because of coaching’. Schnelly implemented a pro-style offense, which wasn’t the norm. Jimmy brought in defensive innovation with smaller, faster players at a number of positions, and Dennis’ one-back offense was unique for its time.

To me, that’s coaching.

I do agree with your comments on recruiting. Butch built his final roster finding players others overlooked, like Reed, Morgan, Wayne, Moss, and Franks. There still are overrated or underrated players coming out of high school but rare is the future high-round pick no one heard off.

Of course, developing players is coaching.

CFB becoming an annual multi-billion-dollar entertainment giant is what has ruined the sport. It will not be repaired until the major power players and networks like ESPN see parity, or something close to it, as a better product that can increase revenue.

During our heyday, we didn't have Bama, Ohio St, or Texas money.
It's something else..
The world was a smaller place and those coaches wouldn't come into some sections of miami to try and recruit a kid. Most of those kids didn't have home phones either.

Now every kid has a cell phone, twitter, FB, instagram and all that. You don't have to find them, it's easy.

Also the culture of the kid has changed. Those kids looked up to kids who would want to build something for themselves, ala mel bratton and zo highsmith. These days these kids look up to the likes of Lebron, KD, and the guys who want to make super teams so winning is easy.

Not everything is money, although buying kids and thier families certainly helps

Remember no celebrations, the no names on the back of the jersey and no decals on the helmet until it’s earned motivational tactics used by Randy ..I do. It’s bull****. Like u said. The chain is what we do..and as I said, nobody on that team should give af about the “hey kids gtfo off my lawn” vibes some here have about it..teams all over the nation have props. We have fair weather/front running fan base..the that THIS is the discussion is crazy

Yeah, it is possible to go too far in either direction. I don't think there is an magic solution. We have already seen D'Eriq King's hesitance to partake in the TD Rings celebration, whatever suits the players.

It's going to be hard to "end" the Turnover Chain thing anyhow. Every year, we make the dang thing bigger and more jewel-encrusted. I'd rather we retire it when we've had a few great years than to just fall victim to a bunch of national sportswriter stories that taunt us for getting rid of it when we are down. Look at the articles by certain dip****e writers already, guys who are trying to rub their nuts in our faces because the second quarter fumble was overturned in Alabama's favor.

F*** them all. We have TO Chain. It's not a "Situational TO Chain", it's just a celebration of a good play. And, yes, sometimes good plays happen when you are losing the game. Oh well.

Youre telling me miami couldn't get Cincinnati coach? Or coastal carolinas coach, or utahs coach, or Arizona states coach?
you really think those guys would recruit well enough not to be an 8-4 team? You really think they would be "such a great coach" we wouldn't have the occansional bad loss?

We've had bad losses just about every year of our history except a couple of seasons and that's when we had more talent than anyone else.

So people are real fans only if they trash the program?
No, some people are fans because we’ve seen the book before with the last 3 coaches and know how it ends and are sick and tired these god awful hires culminating with flake James hiring a DC with no head coaching experience from a failed staff in 5 minutes and on top of that having to pay 4 million dollars to temple who has now fvcked us twice! I’m on top of it all Miami already made this same mistake once before in 2006, how’d that end buddy? One more question, are people only real fans if they support mediocrity in a once proud 5 time championship program?

Love the idiots who say 6-7 or 5-7 yet when offered to make a bet with ridiculous odds favoring them they balk and show their ******

Then again same people could barely come up with $500 for a banner and some are still recovering donating to a billboard that turned into some random dude driving a van
Wait till the next banner sport! Never gonna stop till the tranny fvcker ruining this program is run out of town back to his old job in Maine where he belongs. Never ever!

You’re telling me that they would all win here and settings in college football are equal?
They all would win more then Manure and most likely have us winning the god awful coastal more then not! Something manure is in able because of his corching to do!

Guys, stop what you're doing. Walk into the nearest bathroom, look in the mirror, and ask "am I happy with my 8-4 wife?"

Did we watch the same game?? Bama took the air out of the ball most of the second half so we knew the run was coming; that’s why you see the 3.9 ypc.
So you're saying that they wanted to run the ball and we didn't want them to run it and the reason for our success was because we knew they were going to run it? A dominant team doesn't care if you know it or not. Alabama doesn't trick teams with its running game. They slam it right at you. And we withstood that.

8-4 isn't getting anyone fired. And we may very likely go 8-4. I'm starting to realize that we hired a first time coach that is learning on the job. There are going to be a lot of hiccups along the way. This is what our administration gave us, now we have to learn to live with it.

Lol.

We ever lose to fiu or la tech?

Yall will make excuses for anything. Miami has never looked as bad as they are under manny.

Uhhh...no.

Alabama played Bryce Young into the fourth quarter. Even on Alabama's final drive late in the third quarter (the one that resulted in a fumble), the five plays involved 4 passing plays and 1 running play. Alabama didn't flip to run-heavy drives until the 4th quarter.

But even if you take the first half in isolation, they ran 15 times for 90 yards, a 6.0 yard average. No matter how you slice it, total yards and average yards were both far better than what we encountered against North Carolina.

But, sure, you're going to write off a good performance against the run with some sort of "yeah, but we knew the run was coming in the fourth quarter"? Some people just want to dismiss any signs of improvement because it is inconsistent with their Manny-hatred.
