So close and yet so far....

It's all good. I had no problem at all with your post and I agreed with everything you said. I share the same concerns and have the same high expectations for this team. My concern with Richt is basically the same as yours. Its not something that is at the forefront of my mind but the concern that Richt won't be able to get us over the top is a thought that constantly lingers in the back of my mind. Is Richt Marty Schottenheimer or is he Tony Dungy/Roy Williams? I think that is the key question here. Once again great post and I agree 100%.

Im just glad your taking my post better than RichtShow, I seem to have upset him. And this bothers me. Im just here to make everyone happy and bring a smile to these fine forums

Yeah, we ran for over 200 yards, but so did they. You don't think that could be improved?

Thats interesting I still recall the 86 team getting shredded by Ironhead Heyward at Pitt and that team was unreal. But I do wonder - and Im sure this can be looked up - how many elite/championship teams give up a a certain percentage of explosive(20-plus yards) per game or throughout the year and what the cut-off point is

Tonight, the lack of Jacquan Johnson(who's great at cleaning up plays at the second level) was a factor in my opinion

That's the paradoxical nature of this forum. It was created to be a vehicle for fans to dissect, analyze and pick apart every single facet of Miami Hurricanes football. It also allows us to share and discuss our opinions of our beloved football program. The funny thing is that some posters get so bent out of shape if someone else's view differs from their own. As soon as you go off script and get away from what is considered to be the general consensus or company line, feathers get ruffled and jimmies get rustled.

That's the funny thing, every single response on this thread was very respectful for the most part(even those who severely disagreed with my post) except the one guy who says we have a 'miserable' fan-base . The lack of self-awareness is as bad as Malik Rosier's accuracy.

Dude it helps when you’re not putting 8 men in the box.. I’m not a sunshine pumper and I’m not a negative Nancy. Having nkosi allows the defense to be honest with you on offensive play calling .. but when we sold out to running the ball when we wanted to it just looked like we were still cluster ****ed on the oline
Longest rush of the night there were 8 men in the box from where I was sitting, but 5 being able to make quick, accurate completions has really boosted the OL and RB play. These last two games are exactly what Richt had been talking about last season with all that Coach Speak "We are still a ways away from lining up and really imposing our will at the line of scrimmage" must have read that line or something to that effect 3 or 4 times last season as the wins piled up. I am still both very grateful, and very surprised he finally benched 12. Verdict is still out on 5 but dadgum it's been good so far.

There's going to come a game at some point where Perry will be counted on to just let it fly and not just manage the game. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to that. Im just glad Richt went to the bullpen as conference play started....

First Downs:

UNC 24
Miami 14

If you try to spin that any way other than a major concern, you're fooling yourself. UNC is a bad team. Yes, the turnovers were fantastic. Love the exciting moments and the win. But at a fundamental level where we line up against the other team and run plays and vice versa, they had their way with us FAR FAR more than they should have given our talent disparity over them.
Maybe our defense should’ve stopped scoring on the turnovers that way our offense could’ve got more first downs. /s

I think the 3rd quarter was a lackadaisical mindset given the big lead going into the half. The offense only had 35 snaps going well into the 4th quarter, so the ability to get into a rhythm wasn't there.

Agree on Manny Diaz and his defense. We need to be much more sound going into FSU week though. We were having issues with the run in the 1st quarter.

But I'm not going to complain too much off a 47-10 victory.

Exactly. It seems like the only thing that will make this crowd happy is if the other team has 6 yards of offense and zero first downs

There are things I see that I absolutely Love....but there's also a considerable amount of beyond headscratching BS...Both offensively..and defensively...
And for the Love of God....don't get me started on STs....

there is plenty to be dissatisfied about with that game, but the sky aint falling like you make it out to be. I am happy to neg this post.

Consistency wise....We're a top 15 team. "Can" be a top 10 team. Don't think we are on the top 5 level. We are getting better and deeper....just keep working!!

You're still ****ed that Rosier started.

The absence of Jaquan can’t be overstated. He’s our best player and our best leader. We did a pretty decent job replacing him. But he’s a huge loss.

I saw a lot of freshman on the field - especially in the 2nd half. Not making excuses about some of the busted plays on D or O, but I think the young guys getting a lot of playing time will be a huge plus going forward.

Breaking news: Canes fan has stated preference for Nick Saban over Mark Richt. Story still developing. Will report back at 6.

3 points:

If Willis doesn't pick up an unsportsmanlike penalty, this game is 47-3

UNC did some damage on the ground but if the opposing coach wants to keep pounding the ball on the ground when theyre down 20+ points. Go for it bro. They had less than 50 yards passing until late in the fourth quarter.

Offense was actually super efficient. The defensive scores kept them off the field for a while but they still scored 26 points on only 40 something total plays. They got conservative once they got up big but I have no issues with that. Giving up turnovers and stopping the clock on incomplete passes is how you allow teams that are way behind to get back in the game. Keep it safe, eat some clock, punt it if you have to and make them go the whole distance.

We’re not a great team and Richt isn’t an elite coach

Why the **** people act like that changes from game to game blows my mind
I will take John Vilma's opinion over yours. He stated that a 3rb offense was the hardest offense to defend when you do not see it each week.
UNC made a ton of mistakes and their QBs are garbage but if you can’t look at that offense they were running and see how it could give ANY defense problems, I don’t know what to tell you.

The tempo, the looks, that one RB was pretty legit. Not an easy task.
