This is exactly what I thought of reading the title.
This might be the only thread I'll ever be able to post this in so . . .
I'm assuming the long snap is a spiral snap, it could hardly be anything else considering the distance . . . Does anyone know whether we are using the "dead snap" on snaps under center or in the gun . . . This article lead me to this question:
How one technique could end bad snaps forever
One of the most frustrating things in football can be a botched snap, but a decades-old technique is suddenly gaining popularity and changing how the ball gets from the center to the quarterback.www.espn.com
Yeah . . . I as much as said that in my post . . . Do you have an answer to my actual question, or no . . .Dead snap comes from the center to the QB, not the Long snapper to punter or holder.

Yeah...me,tooThat’s what I thought when I read the thread title...
I did not know that they got that big.....the fish that is.
The importance of this position and having a snapping specialist was demonstrated by our opening game against UF in 1987, I think he was. I believe the final was 31-4, with us dominating Florida. The two safeties were bad snaps by our long snapper, Willis Peguese, who was a DL handling snapping duties as well. It might have been his first game and he was probably nervous in that madhouse--the OB was rocking that day.No one cares until there is a problem. No one ever talked about Jordan Butler because he got the job done. Clay James came in highly rated at this specialty position. Have several others on the roster. Is usually a walk on try out with the winner getting a scholarship. Any one have any inside knowledge?
