This might be the only thread I'll ever be able to post this in so . . .
I'm assuming the long snap is a spiral snap, it could hardly be anything else considering the distance . . . Does anyone know whether we are using the "dead snap" on snaps under center or in the gun . . . This article lead me to this question:

Dead snap comes from the center to the QB, not the Long snapper to punter or holder.

Yeah . . . I as much as said that in my post . . . Do you have an answer to my actual question, or no . . .

It depends on the center. Do we know who our center is this season?
I tried watching some highlights from last year but honestly cant tell.
If you can find a photograph, it is easy to tell. Sorry.

Clay James has the spot on lock. Kid was the starting long snapper for Cocoa High's state champ team for multiple years.

FYI - Clay is the definition of a true Cane. He reached out to UM early on and came to every camp he could. Hartley could only offer him a preferred walk on spot. He was offered a full ride to Army (Westpoint) but decided to take a preferred walk-on spot with us instead. He's now on full scholarship and he works incredibly hard to perfect his craft.

Really similar story with Marshall Few - solid WR who had offers from Navy, Army and Citadel; agreed to take a preferred walk on spot here because of his love for the Canes. REALLY hope he gets some field time this season.

That’s what I thought when I read the thread title...
Yeah...me,too

Never saw one that big, but I don't remember since I haven't fished in Florida in over 50 years...about the time of the Old Testament, give or take a few years.

You know, with this thread title, I was expecting to see a discussion about anything from fishing to poontang, but instead....

No one cares until there is a problem. No one ever talked about Jordan Butler because he got the job done. Clay James came in highly rated at this specialty position. Have several others on the roster. Is usually a walk on try out with the winner getting a scholarship. Any one have any inside knowledge?
The importance of this position and having a snapping specialist was demonstrated by our opening game against UF in 1987, I think he was. I believe the final was 31-4, with us dominating Florida. The two safeties were bad snaps by our long snapper, Willis Peguese, who was a DL handling snapping duties as well. It might have been his first game and he was probably nervous in that madhouse--the OB was rocking that day.

We thoroughly dominated, and probably sent their QB (was it Kerwin Bell) to the ER to get rehydrated. We sacked him a bunch of times. It was also the first college game for Emmit Smith, who got some carries late in the game.

Who can ever forget those two bad snaps by Willis...who was not a specialist. We just found the best guy on the regular playing roster who might be able to snap for us. We're much smarter today---we bring in an experienced specialist.
