O’Connor has impressed me more and more as the year has unfolded. He looks the most fluid in man coverage .

Been more impressive than Lucas. All 3 over Damari still.

I still can't believe that at Nickel we literally don't play anyone and when Scott can off we put Isaiah Taylor in lol. So we have Brantley/Damari/Antoine/Ewald etc all who won't get into the rotation over Taylor if Scott goes down with an injury in a meangful moment? Sheesh

Talk about hyperbole. Our defense had one bad drive.

Offense had an 8 minute drive for a TD in the 2nd quarter which pretty much just wiped out their defense.
 
What’s the deal with Wiley? Are we just saving his redshirt? He was talked about as a rotation player early in the year and played in our first couple games. I expected more snaps as the year went on.

Yeah it's noticeable how much more athletic the new DBs are than OJ. Startlingly so in fact.

Bell beat OJ 2-3 times. He got toasted by Nimrod on USF. Mossed by Malachi Fields against ND.

Like Cuse did last season, if you go at him, you have success. Not sure why more teams aren’t figuring it out.

I said OJ and not Lucas because he was playing the most snaps. Lucas has had consistent snaps. This week we got more O’Connor and less OJ while everything else stayed pretty consistent. I like the Damari/Lucas split. Have thought from fall camp that EOC/OJ should split snaps more evenly.

Teams do go at him but to the kid credit he competes. He probably gets targeted the most out of all the cbs and he might give up a catch or 2 but he will turn around and break up a pass or 2 when needed

I’ll tell you what. If you want to watch someone on the OL with a nasty disposition out there watch SJ on that last drive. Needs a couple more pounds but he is intense and plays with an edge.

Imo you have to factor in the more snaps and targets into the equation though. he gets targeted more and imo he's had the harder assignments for the most part. Like on the Fields catch he allowed, it's not like you'd describe that as not sticky coverage.. And with more targets he still consistently is active in breaking up passes more than any other CB. He's been targeted much deeper down the field than the rest too. It's like Sure maybe by the stats also Damari is playing great. But he's not tasked with covering the opposing #1 as often. Most of his big defensive plays are like on screens it feels like. This isn't to say OConnor has been bad. I think he has been good. I do think he has deserved more snaps. I just think Oj has been our best CB, at least better than Lucas. And Damari has been the worst of the 4.

Not saying he’s bad. We have 4 good corners that would start most places. Just happy to see O’Connor on the field more because he’s the best pure cover guy we have IMO.
 
McCoy played his best game of the year. Bell did a nice job run blocking too. They both collapsed the left side on a Fletcher run to the c-gap on the first half TD drive. More of this please. If we can run to the left side again without a TE over there or pulling Coop were gonna run the ball better.

I agree with you on O’Connor. But FWIW, Lucas is not a good tackler. 19% missed tackle rate.

Have been unimpressed with him and OJ based on preseason reports.

We have played one team with somewhat of a pulse in the passing game and that’s Louisville (miss me with the ND receivers and CJ Carr in his first start) and they torched us.

More O’Connor, please.

Lucas is just a more physical tackler. He’s more effective defending the perimeter run, setting an edge, and being a force player.

Lucas misses in space. He doesn’t have great change of direction because of his size. That’s his limitation. Very good zone corner, which we didn’t have last year.
