Slow decent to mediocrity continues quicker than expected...

That's not the way it works and you know it. There's obviously a very sizable buy-out, not to mention you fire a guy like him with his pedigree(arguable, I know), this quick and you're never going to get another decent guy to come on board.

As I've said before Miami's fans opinion of themselves is a **** of a lot higher than most everyone else in CFB. Everyone looked at it as a serious rebuild that takes time.

Hence convince him to retire. Many of the issues Richt is having he brought on himself with recruiting misses and poor coaching. This roster should not be 5-5 with the schedule we had this season.

You’re trying to draw parallels between a regular person buying a car, and a major international research institution buying out an employee. There are none.

The apologists said there was no way UM could afford to pay a coach $4mil/year too.

There are plenty and I'm being realistic.

It always amazes me how others have all kinds of ideas how to freely spend someone else's money. The choice of how much and where to spend it is the University of Miami's to make

I'm sure you do understand that The University of Miami's primary goal is education and research, NOT Football and that EVERY University department operates under a budget. Changing that budget is not at the AD's discretion, it requires BOD approval. He is one cog in the system, full of cogs asking for additional $$$

As a private institution we do not have unlimited resources or large sums of outside resources i.e, boosters that contribute ungodly sums dedicated to football, nor a large number of dedicated fans that regularly contribute to the football program. While we have very vocal fans, it is not matched with contributions..( See the IPF)

You may ( or may not) recall, that the University's decision to raise the head coach's salary to $4million was no easy task. Going back now and asking the University saying "Ooops we made a mistake can you please tack on $20+million buyout to our budget and to continue paying a new coach somewhere close to that $4million amount" ...the additional $$$ has to come come from somewhere. You tell me where?

Can you guarantee that the new coach will be successful? What if he has one bad year should we buy him out too? No one is denying its been a bad year. But is it a trend or an aberration? None of us knows for sure. Can it be solved in other less drastic costly ways? Such as hiring an OC? ....again none of us knows for sure.

Fact is , besides offering our opinions, none of us really has any skin in this game. It's the University's game and decision to make..Rest assured that it won't be an short term emotional decision, you can be sure that it will be a long term business decision considering many factors. All based on what is in the University as a whole best interests..... not just one Department

It's not being an apologist. It's being realistic from having been privy for decades as to how successful businesses operate. Will just doesn't determine how a business decision is made. There are many other considerations.

I'm not asking for your agreement. I'm just objectively facing the reality of this situation.

We ate the remaining time on Golden's contract

Buying out CMR's contract is way too much for Miami to swallow.

Some fans forgot that Paying CMR what we paid him was unprecedented and a truly earth moving monetary event.(for Miami)

No way can we afford to buy CMR out AND get any kind of decent coach ....outside of a high school coach.

That's our reality

Fans don't want to hear that. They think Miami can hire and fire any coach at any time. They think Miami is sitting on a wad of cash that can be dumped exclusively into football.
At this point, the school could pull the plug on the football program and breath a sigh of relief because the expectations are exceeding the financial means.

We've been irrelevant for 15 years and counting this just didn't happen overnight.hate to say this but somebody that's in power at the university planned for this to happen.
Ah ha, the old conspiracy theory. That’s it, you have solved all our problems.

Agree 100%

They also don't realize that the primary purpose for Miami's existence is education and research NOT football.

I realize that this is a football board and that is its focus.... BUT fact is, any University's actual football decisions are based on their means ....which vary for each Institution. We are not Bama or Notre Dame.

Unfortunately that is not what many want to hear...but dems the facts.

Mrs. Richt needs to convince him for the sake of her family. It's our only hope.

Then it is up to us to drive him to retirement. Air assault on his son is step one.
