Slow decent to mediocrity continues quicker than expected...

We ate the remaining time on Golden's contract

Buying out CMR's contract is way too much for Miami to swallow.

Some fans forgot that Paying CMR what we paid him was unprecedented and a truly earth moving monetary event.(for Miami)

No way can we afford to buy CMR out AND get any kind of decent coach ....outside of a high school coach.

That's our reality
It’s not a matter of affordability. It’s a matter of willingness.

The new Adidas contract paid for most of the Folden buyout because of our marketing potential...
... we totally screwed the goose with hiring of Mork..
we have no choice but to get back to prominence... or lose tons of endorsements $$$
...Richt is a bullet we might have bite and move on...

Dream on my friend.

I've been WILLING to get Bentleys and mansions for the entire family for years ..... but still can't pull it off with shear will and determination

The day that money is NOT a factor in decision making is the day I and many others will burn their MBA'S

at some point you have to realize if this goes south you have just injured your own alma mater.

I wouldn't follow that train of thought too much.

From almost everything I've heard from him it almost seems like there is a dormant resentment aimed at that staff and this school for never getting to play in college. He never talks positively about his time here. (Think Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite) The guy is more 'Nole than anything else.

So.....Richt took the job so that he could, in his second year, tantalize everyone by winning 10 games in a season and become Coastal champs, just to purposely let everything go to pot in year 3 as an FU to the school and its fans because he wasn't a starter during his time here?

This God fearing man routine is all a ruse. He is one of the most evil geniuses of all time to come up with a plan so diabolical. He's like Wile E. Coyote or something "Super Genius"!!!

Give me a break.

The state of the program has reached an all time low. Yes, lower than 58-0. That’s because we’ve never truly bounced back from that a*/ whipping, nor anything else in 16yrs of ineptitude. It’s going to take an incredible turn of fate or a major change in the thinking of the BoT plus an ability to hire someone to do a remarkable job of finding the next HC at the U, for this thing to start turning around to become any resemblance of a top tier program again. It’s truly sad to have watched this downward spiral into oblivion and no longer being relevant in college football. They’ve destroyed the football program and have done the same with the storied baseball program as well. It’s no coincidence we haven’t won a NC in both sports since 2001. At this point I think Dwinstitles is correct - the days of us riding off into the sunset after a major title are long gone. It’s time to face the facts of reality.

Says you, not me. Talk about putting words in someone's mouth.

All I'm saying is Richt being 'back at his alma mater' doesn't mean what all of the homers have built it up to mean. This is a last stop, not a Jim Harbaugh-homecoming.

Once the BOT and AD calculate the both loses they will reasonably decide that an empty stadium, recruits that can impact our future means more and not to mention the fans not buying jersey's and other items, the total backlash of the media with negative spreads, they will pay Richt the remainder of his Welfare check and kick him in the *** out the door!! With everything it always comes down to their bottom line. They have a lot more to lose keeping him around!!

Not sure why Mark Richt would want to stick around as his performance begins to deteriorate recruiting, at some point you have to realize if this goes south you have just injured your own alma mater. Just go retire and go preach the gospel and our BOT should give you a nice parting gift, simple!

There is not one scenario that I can see or imagine where Mark Richt reinvents himself, in the past 20 years he has had 1 single top 20 offense ranking, 1! We made fun of Mark D'onofrio for his ineptitude, which continnues to this day as University of Houston languishes as one of the worst defenses AGAIN, in the country, he was a joke of a coordinator, but he did not make $4MM a year either. Asking Richt to hire an Offensive Coordinator is like asking Donald Trump to hire a Political Correctness Coach, why would you trust Richt to find an OC when he runs an offense that borders on the Rockne era style?

Richt is the face of the franchise right now and he looks more like a deer in the headlights, if the BOT does not make a move here they are killing this program willfully. I like Mark Richt, he is a fine person but holy Christ nice guys can sometimes finish last, unless of course UNC is in the Coastal Division with you!

Nah, man. It's like gamblers...he just needs one more chance and he's going to win it all back.

How many times are we going to get a **** in the punchbowl? First it was coker, then it was Shannon, then it was Golden, and now it's Richt. This school has had one of the worst track records with hiring a head coach who is competent.

I'll tell you one thing, we want Richt gone. And he's more than likely gone after next season, barring some type of great turn around. But the University has screwed this up more than once. They have screwed it up with both Donna and Frenk at the helm. I doubt we will see a great hire. We'll see another conservative hire like another Mark Richt.

The University could have adverted disaster by hiring Mike Leach or Butch Davis. But we are stuck with this aging loser who gives us quotes like, "Rings collect dust".

How would Mork know about rings collecting dust? He hasn't won any..

You’re trying to draw parallels between a regular person buying a car, and a major international research institution buying out an employee. There are none.

The apologists said there was no way UM could afford to pay a coach $4mil/year too.

Meanwhile recruits are bailing out every week....
This better end soon or it will take years to recover.
Too many of you guys think it is ordained or inevitable that we become a good to great team again. Hate to shock you but suggest you adjust your standards on Cane football. We have become a bad program and it may take decades, if ever, to become a respected football program.

I understand that. Miami is the Minnesota of the South.

There's a couple of things to think about with CMR. One of them is what exactly is stated in his contract with respect to a firing... since it's not likely that he's gonna walkout on $4M/year. Another is how much is the BOT willing to eat if firing CMR... even if they find a bargain to replace him. I think that a "suck for Luck" scenario may be some hope if we end up having a losing season... it may help accelerate decisions on CMR.

I have to adjust my standards everywhere. I root for Canes, USC and Dolphins

All three are 5-5

The BOT has been killing this program ever since 2003. I do not think have any interest in improving our dying football and baseball programs whatsoever.
Has anyone heard that this school lost a ton of money to Bernie Madoff as well as Shalala’s mess with the medical school? That may be why they do not do anything at all with improving the school in any area. Something’s really wrong at this school. It seems to be sinking to new depths every year now.

There's only one thing that will work. We need to turn up the pressure. No one else will at this point and time we need to do it.

We've been irrelevant for 15 years and counting this just didn't happen overnight.hate to say this but somebody that's in power at the university planned for this to happen.
