Slap Fight About Paying Players

The NCAA only exists bc it allows everyone to sell a product without having to pay for it. You are so naive it is laughable.

Universities spend tons of money fielding football programs. What are you smoking?

How much money do you think it costs to carry a deadweight player like, say, Dionte Mullins for 4 years?

Multiply him by 10x or 15x every year because that's how many rosters spots are being used by non-contributors. And that's being very conservative.

College football provides zero value to the players outside of the coaching they get.

Are you that naive to think that a bachelors degree in “management” from any of these programs has ANY value in 2017? Do you think employers dont realize what football and bball players actually do? Look at UNC which is actually a good school, better than 90% of the major sports schools.

A “degree” for a football player who is essentially majoring in football is worthless.

Are schools limiting the athletes to the course of study that is available to them now?
And is it limiting them to the amount of effort they put into their school work during non football activity hours?

Being a basketball or football player at a major D1 school is a full time job that in many ways limits what you can pursue.

Dude decided he would rather face Saban every year instead of having to deal with what Richt has going on.

Stubhub has more than a few tickets for the big FSU vs ULM game tomorrow for...$6, but, but Miami...attendance...blah, blah, blah.

There you go moving the goalposts again. Like I said, football & mens basketball make money...the sports that have no value are the ones that don't make a profit...welfare.

How is that moving the goalposts?

The starting quarterback of our school's team has no value.

But we should pay players?

Again, the Miami football program makes money.

Malik Rosier doesn't. The program would make money regardless of whether he ever enrolled at the school.

To be fair, I'd take my chances with the SEC revolving door of coaches every 2-3 years then try to fight off Dabo and Richt twice a year who are going to be here forever.

SEC instability is a lot easier to navigate when you commit to keeping one HC on the job no matter what the fans think. Auburn is a perfect example of this. They could have dumped Malzahn after that 6 loss season or the 5 loss season the next year but they pushed through and now they're up for a top playoff seed.

ACC top to bottle has far superior coaches and stability, much tougher to navigate year in and year out.

17 hours of field work a week plus whatever film study is required.

Less than a full-time job and I went to grad school while working 40 hours a week.

Lame *** excuse to apologize for these kids who don't want to do their schoolwork.

Then when they don't sign a professional contract they blame the schools for their inability to make a living.

So you dont believe that Miami being great onthe field has an economic advantage? How do you think we paid for our basketball program to return? Do you really not know ANYTHING about what football did and does for the university economically?

UM was joke school before the football team made it into an international brand. And the PLAYERS made the football program.

Miami had the top ABC night games by viewership this year. Why? Because we were good. Free advertising for the school. Ad revenues up for the networks which incentivizes them pay more. Do you really think the players dont matter?

Guy is such a ******* racist scum who has a history of trashing on “south florida players”. Makes me sick to be honest.

10 years 75 million????

and players get paid nothing??? GTFOH

That's $7.5 million a year. Hmm. I seem to recall somebody posting on Tuesday that Jimbo was gone to Texas A&M for $7.5 mil a year. He got negged and had his thread shut down:

LOL...Malik has value, we'd be middle of the road if any of the other QBs were starting. Fickle Miami fans don't pack the stadium for 8-4 teams, so yeah, Malik has value. And again, if football and men's basketball were their own entities, you could pay the players.

Nobody gives a ****, shut up. Here is another neg for your continued pheggotry today.

I had a bone to pick and I picked it. I could care less whether you like it or not. You know where to stick your neg.

You got it right. Out and out indentured servitude. Coach, with a contract, getting paid millions, can leave at any time and kids are signed semester to semester. And, in the case of Mississippi, only the seniors can transfer immediately... Fans, coaches and athletic departments like “owning” players, but the system needs to change. This is dirty.

LOL...Omega's the type of dude that would pay all the bills in an apartment, that He shares with 3 other guys, because He makes the most money.

So you dont believe that Miami being great onthe field has an economic advantage?

What does Malik Rosier have to do with Miami being great?

The revenue stream functions mostly like the NFL nowadays. Television and bowl money flows through the conference and is distributed to the schools. The team's performance certainly helps with ticket sales and donations but that's about it.

Miami is solvent (and even in the green) regardless of how many games the football program wins.

When football was an Independent and going to New Year's Bowls meant that the coffers were flush with new cash. That's how basketball was funded.

It's not the 1980's anymore.

Yes, I clearly know more than you do about it since I understand that none of these players should be "paid" like a professional.

UM was joke school before the football team made it into an international brand. And the PLAYERS made the football program.

I'd say that Howard Schnellenberger made the program a brand. That's why coaches nowadays get paid so much. Because they drive the economic engine.

Do you really think the players dont matter?

You're so flustered that you're throwing out strawmen at breakneck speed.

I never said anything about players "mattering"

I said they have no value and shouldn't be paid like professionals. You be unable to refute that has made you manic.
