Slap Fight About Paying Players

Omega YOU are the one who doesnt understand economics.

The whole point is its a rigged system where players ARENT FREE to set a market, bc the NCAA made a deal with the NFL to serve as a minor league system in exchange for not being able to draft kids till 3 years in college.

That's quite the conspiracy you've uncovered.

I'm sure a powerful attorney would love to speak with you about the evidence you've gathered to prove it.

There is no market for 18-21 year olds of which only 2% get drafted or make a professional roster.

The idea that individuals who add no value should be paid (more than they already are paid) is absurd.

Lol there is no NCAA without 100% of the players. Its like saying the only people in a movie that should get paid are the lead actors. No wonder you are so insecure about the perception of your degree.

This should get us Joyner, anyway.

Not sure exactly why he's leaving.

Just looking at the teams, I'd much rather be a coach at FSU than A&M. You can win a lot more at FSU and recruit well nationally. And he's won a championship at FSU.

Perhaps the money is a lot better or he's from Texas. Don't know nor care.

Don’t get how you take this job over a LSU offer last year

Yup. omegajagr is a racist who has a bachelor of business from UM and thinks that “thug south florida players” make his toilet paper degree look bad.

I don't know who you're talking about but I don't think South Florida players are thugs.

Thank you.

NFL gets a training league it doesnt need to pay for.
NCAA gets a product to sell without any competition or workforce overhead.

In a free market system, the players would be able to go pro whenever they wanted, which would diminish tbe product the NCAA has to sell.

You don't get it.

Joyner, Winston, Cook, etc. had zero value. It's Jumbo the fans were coming to see all along. The product on the field doesn't really matter.

Certain age but what is your alternative as a player? To sit out of football for 3 years? There is no alternative bc the NFL does not have a minor league system. So in effect, they are saying you must go to college.

So you're saying that college football offers plenty of value to those who play it? Is that what you're saying?

Knock me over with a feather!

The truth is that 99% of college football players get way more out of the transaction than the school does.

Last time I checked CFL and Arena leagues would count as professional. They have options. They have options not to go to school and just sit around, they have options to go to another league. Problem is for the vast majority of them they are going to get zero dollars from football and make all their money from their degree. Ask Yearby how that degree vs NFL thing looks right about now? We just had a big presidential race and one person ran on the platform that college is too expensive currently and people are getting into too much debt, you guys don't value the education, food, and a place to stay all for free for some reason.

lolol Jagr sees zero connection between the arbitrary age rules kn the NBA and NFL as it relates to the NCAA’s monopoly.

Classic millennial who thinks he knows everything.

Not untrue. But the talented skill players are hopelessly exploited. Cam was worth much more than 200k

10 years 75 million????

and players get paid nothing??? GTFOH

That's $7.5 million a year. Hmm. I seem to recall somebody posting on Tuesday that Jimbo was gone to Texas A&M for $7.5 mil a year. He got negged and had his thread shut down:

Yeah, I'm a little salty about it, but that's ok. Anyone who'd like to get on my new pm list for super secret insider info let me know. Lol. :chuncky:

LOL at you comparing these football players to regular college students, and its way more then two dozen players LMAO.. theres dozens of players on each team... Booster just paid a 4star LB from missispi 80k.. I am now more then ever comfortable with bag men in the game

You don't seem to understand what value means.

Guys like Johnny Manziel and Tim Tebow had value.

There are *maybe* two dozen of those guys in any given year and that's being very liberal.

****, our starting QB has zero value.

Maybe if the players started valuing themselves as students they would see the incredible value of what they're getting.

But that won't happen because adults like you keep selling them this indentured servant narrative.

LOL...if football & men's baskeball were their own entitities, you could pay those kids. But because the profit they make has to be spread out to the entire athletic dept. via funny accounting, they can't get paid. Last I saw, non-revenue sports at UM spend twice as much as they bring in, so guess who pays for it...that's nothing but welfare so some already well to do kid can hit a golf ball, or spike a volleyball.

There's no NCAA without the universities. The players are largely expendable. They come and go. Few of them with any value.

****, even NFL players learned this lesson the hard way during the 1987 strike.
