SJ

I have an extremely hard time believing that Cantwell at Tackle and McCoy at Guard is worse than SJ at Guard and McCoy at Tackle. At least try it out in the game.

Well CMU is the game to do it before Clemson, but I think its wishful thinking. JMO

Have to try it at some point. SJ can’t cut it vs Stanford or Wake. He has no shot against top dogs in playoffs.

At least if we play Cantwell and he plays poorly, I would have hope that he would learn from it and be better over the course of the season.

With SJ, he’s almost guaranteed to play poorly and I have no hope that he will grow 5 inches and be able to play guard.

Don’t have to convince me brother. I’m just stating my .02. If we don’t see that lineup next week, we aint gonna see it on the road @ Clemson.

Guys. This is the best OLINE staff in the country. They are playing the best they have. End of story.

Blame them for not being prepared with the portal but they play the best.
Yea, ppl arent getting this. Just follow the snaps.

Cantwell didnt get a single snap at OT v FAMU. And didnt even look good vs FAMU. But yet people want to move McCoy in to OG and Cantwell to OT?

We were up 31-7 against Wake, and i dont think Cantwell or Cogdon got any snaps. Unless they are hurt, the staff has clearly chosen who their best 5 are right noe and will roll with it.

This is the mistake with EXPECTING a true freshman to have an immediate impact. I never rely on that. If they show out immediately (like JJ) great, consider it a blessing and find space for them to play.

But to build your oline relying on Cantwell to be like Mauigoa from day 1 was a mistake.

Cantwell as of FAMU is simply not ready. And coaches see more than us and have never been shy of playing freshman. So if Cantwell or Cog are better than SJ.....trust me, those guys would be starting.

So people can hate SJ all they want but hes very likely the best we have rn.

Why do you think in a game against FAMU, where a coach can experiment and try stuff, Cantwell didn't get a single snap at OT?

Up 31-7, Cantwell didnt play a snap on the oline vs Wake

Like, what do you think is the reason for that in your opinion? Only options are

1. You think the coaches are stubborn and reluctant to play freshman even though he is showing he is a better option in practice
2. Cantwell is hurt
3. Cantwell is not a top 5 option on the OL rn.

Cantwell isn’t ready to play guard but he’s a True Freshman playing out of position. Put him back at Tackle and he’s going to look better. I have to believe Cantwell at Tackle will look better than SJ at guard. He at least has the physical tools to figure it out.

The narrative on Cantwell shifted from guaranteed starter to he’s going to need some time the second Samson got back and they shifted him to guard. Feels like learning the position is holding him back more so than anything else.

Unfortunately we can’t win it all with this OLINE. going to be a long season. Going to have to use RB / HB to stay in and block.

Better figure out an offense with a 3 step drop. And 1 less WR running down the field.

No clue because Cantwell started at Tackle all spring. So they viewed him as a top 3 tackle on the roster at that time. I’m not sure what’s changed.

I don’t blame them for going with McCoy at tackle to start but the interior OL has been an abomination and needs help. No way they are happy getting pushed around by Stanford and Wake.

@TheOriginalCane says they read the board.

I know they see us comparing SJ to some of the WOAT OL we've had like Gaynor, Luis Cristobal (who, in fact, at 6ft 270lbs, was way better than both Gaynor and SJ) and some of those Manny special OLs... They know what to do..
Rather take my limps with Cantwell and sliding McCoy back inside at guard and figure out what to do at C and ALG, but SJ.... HE GOTTA GO RIDE THE PINE
Who is “they” exactly?

I don’t usually join in on the player bashing but SJ is trash..Even if he could snap as a center he’s still not good enough to be an olineman on this level.

I don’t see any other option but to move McCoy back to LG next to Samson.. at least that would clean up one side of your oline. Figure out the right side.

Another thing we ignored in the portal that would help the struggling offensive line is an actual TE who can block. I guess they were counting on Luka to fill that role.

Year 5 of Mario and Mirabel and SJ is starting at guard. Something went extremely wrong. Can’t even say recruiting because every dude that bounced last offseason are playing at big boy programs.

We ****ed up this offseason gentleman.

3 games in and all of us know that the ceiling of the o line relies on 2 true freshman developing at warp speed

Everything looked good in the first half. Then we lose key players and the play calling went unbelievably south.

Hard to believe Kinsler was worse than SJ. Probably should’ve fought to keep him

Buchanan sucks too.

He’s not even serviceable.

You can’t have an offense if the 3/5’s of the line are bad like that.

The two guards and center are unplayable.

Buchanan doesn’t suck. This is his first year so he has a ways to go. When you combine the 3 weakest OL on the interior, it makes for a bad collective OL. Have to get Cantwell and Congdon more reps. If they aren’t even ready for that, then I really question how Mario and Alex have put this OL together. Missing out on Seaton was a huge whiff
