4 million is a lot of money for a game manager. It was a good defense, but they were also banged up. I don’t think NFL teams are going to be particularly impressed with his season so far. He needs to prove he’s more than a caretaker QB against FSU.

How much would Mendoza had cost and what would we have gotten with the differential. Not sure overall difference is significant due to the timing involved and a relatively weak spring/summer portal.

Is Williams a reasonably competent QB? I think he is. As I said - I think any reasonably competent QB could have beaten ND given how well the OL and defense played . Would certainly be a far more difficult game without Beck but it would still be winnable. Even against ND , I didn’t think “we 100% lose this game if any other QB other than Beck is playing.” Last year you could absolutely say, “We 100% lose this game if anyone but Ward is at QB.” You actually think Beck has looked like a uniquely talented QB so far?

I agree with the general premise and agree that Beck has looked fine, but not great. I will say though, the WR group is not that exciting. I love Toney and Daniels, but they are not plus athletes. Neither are Johnson or Lofton. Moore and Marion and JoJo are the best athletes and none of them are ready for a full-time starring role.

I hope the young guys continue to develop and who knows with Jojo, but this is a group that isn't going to stand out against teams with good corners. Good news is that ND and Florida are the best secondaries we will face all season.

Silver lining is the defense is the real deal. I remember last season it looked decent through the first few games and then collapsed. This defense can win a championship. Incredible how much it could change in one year.

If we’d blown them out (which we easily could have if our passing game got off the bus), then we’re getting a two-week long BJ.
We’re probably ranked top 3 and feeling great during a bye week, sky high.

We already had tons of media fellatio all week. Enough rat poison for a long while.

Now the staff doesn’t have to sell anyone on the need to get much better. I’ll give Beck and the O a mulligan. They’ve played pretty well this season, won’t be at their best every game. Beautiful thing is we’re complimentary so when we needed it, our D rowed the boat. And we still ran the ball down their throats for the most part.

I’ll take a home dub all day over UF. We’re 4-0 with wins over two of our biggest all-time rivals. We’re ranked in the top 5. And we have plenty of motivation going into a bye week before yet another hated rival, who happens to be top 10.

Oh, and we have a muthafking DEFENSE again.

IMO, miami should jump LSU and be #3 regardless going into the BYE. LSU barely beat UF by 10 thanks to 5 INTs. Their two "big wins" are 1-3 Clemson and 1-3 Florida. Either way I agree that its not a terrible thing to win but still have things to improve on. Hopefully keeps this team grounded
