SIAP (Scrimmage Tonight?)

Yall MF'ers act as if these numbers are an anomaly and we haven't seen QB's look good against our defense before.
As if what I'm saying isn't a legitimate concern.
Like we've never allowed opposing QB's to have career days. Like we've never allowed a QB to start a game 14-14 passing before.

I coach against 5 D1 level skill kids every day and our QB doesn't even go 12-16 during 7-on-7 period, nevermind 11-on-11.
You're not stopping much of anything if a QB is going 12-16. You gotta figure at least 2 of those throws are inaccurate, on a good day. Also consider possible drops. So out of those 4 incompletions your defense forced maybe 2 of them?

This happens EVERY TIME our offense scrimmages our defense.
Not ONE TIME has a QB had a bad day. We also allow our WR's to go 7 for 137, 9 for 144, etc etc etc.

"iT's StAtS fRoM oNe FrEaKiN' sCrImMaGe!"

No man, there's a large case study of this ****.

Scrimmages always benefit the offense, that’s nothing new. QB has more time in the pocket knowing he will not get touched.

Not to mention youre talking about how we give up everything underneath, but every WR who had publicly released stats from the scrimmage had at least 15 yards per catch.

It’s also okay to recognize that we do indeed have a better QB room than most teams we will play.
Yall act like I don't scrimmage every day.
The timing for the QB is the same, he just doesn't get blasted, he gets touched instead. The urgency and timing of the passing game is no different.

And the WR's have 15 YPC because there's room to run after the catch.

Listen, the defense could very well be mediocre.

But to assume that without considering the context that they are actually going against a very talented QB room and are going through adjustments on their own side of the ball, is premature.

The spring game in April and the first scrimmage of the fall is not enough sample size to assume that last night’s defense, which neither of us saw, is the finished product.

That’s it for me on this Monday morning lol, have a good week my dude

I 100% agree with Coach Macho. It's one of the things I've hated about Manny's scheme since he got here. Recency bias with a lot of you who are just happy Blakes gone. With all that said, CFB is an offensive game nowadays. At worst, your defense needs to slow down the other offense. Manny's philosophy is to bank on negative plays and turnovers. Overall, I think we finally have an offense potent enough to outscore most teams. Now the question throughout the year will be can the defense do its part? We shall see

i agree and I'm disappointed as well, you speak to alot of good points ... we give up easy completions and allow qb's to catch rhythm ... i don't know how we'll play this fall, but why bring robinson in to continue to the passive db play ... on another note, do you work with alton tarbor?

Since when was anything about Manny's defense passive. I remember him putting dudes on an island, mano a mano, our athlete will beat yours.

agreed and I think T Rob and Shoop will fix it. it is #11 of the 10 areas that we need to improve on that I cited in my thread.

11. after further thought, we made noodle arm quarterbacks looks like heisman trophy candidates. the UVA quarterback couldnt start at the lourdes carrollton touch football game, but he looked like Dak against us. Same with the NCST QB. reminded me of the Wisconsin bowl games where those quarterbacks looked like All Americans. part of the reason why is that we play such a soft man to man or soft zone coverage (i think coach macho called it spot dropbacks or dropping back into a spot disirregardless (shout out to west kendall) of where the receiver is in your zone)) that they pick us apart. i hope this changes with T Rob and DVD.

My opinion isn't based just off of practice. We've seen this same issue versus opponents plenty of times over the years.

And this is why our offense is going to **** down their leg during the season when someone challenges them on defense.

When they get pattern-match or man coverage they're likely going to struggle.

Not everybody we play is going to give our offense easy 7-yard completions all the way down the field like our defense does in practice.
Give Rhett Lashlee a little credit. Give D'Eriq King a little credit.

Too bad my statement wasn't based on just King. This has been going on since spring. All three quarterbacks have looked good.

This is what kills me about some of y'all on here. You guys will read a hundred word post and find one little thing you can contradict. Did you not read my entire post about all three quarterbacks having high completion percentages since the spring?

So either we have the most elite and reliable QB room in college football or we're giving up everything underneath on defense. I'll go with the latter.
Or as Da Jumbo said we are letting the QBs play through sacks and pressure with no contact and that is inflating their numbers a bit. I mean the difference between 12/16 and 9/16 is 3 plays but if King went 9/16 we would all be sweatin it.
