SIAP: Miami comes in at #17

Dude, if shilling for UNC’s ranking based on one performance against us instead of looking at their their overall record helps you, more power to you.

No one here is saying we should be higher, we’re saying they’re too high coming off a wildly inconsistent, four loss season.
Yes, but its also only the spring pre-season poll. Rankings don't mean **** anyways. Just win the games in front of you. I actually agree they are too high, but it doesn't matter. Again, instead of worrying about what they came in at, we should be worrying about why we got lit up and records set against.

Bros not bro’s. Bro’s indicates possession.
Did you call Vegas and tell them to change their odds on Bama being the favorite to win the NC yet because they replace 4 starters on the OL? I'm thinking those guys really need your insight before they lose too much $$$$.

Make the call "15-0BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

No way to explain UNC beating our *** in the NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT! The Lakers and Nets lose to bottom feeders, good nfl teams lose to them... but when they're healthy on prime time national TV they usually come to play.... especially when the media hype games to see where both teams stand....there are no excuses to get beat like that....UNC wasn't prepared vs FSU they made second half adjustments nearly pulled it off after a terrible start.....when the media hyped Miami vs UNC we got embarrassed once again in front of a national audience... Miami is very fortunate to be ranked #17 right now...imo

sometimes it is just too easy my friend..... but I like you, your not full blown Jim Jones Kool-Aid Clan my friend
I like you too, that's why I'm willing to keep it going. But seriously, that game was a complete anomaly if you look at the rest of the season.

they are losing 95% of the offensive production...and losing a good passing qb to a bad passing qb.
Yea has to be some SEC bias. I think Jones was the back up, that dude has alot to prove passing wise. He's looked subpar to me everytime I've seen him.

17 is low for a preseason poll, IMO. These polls are largely based off returning production, which we have plenty of... including a heisman contender at QB.

I didn’t look at the list yet and I’m waiting for the post-spring magazines to come out to see what other squads look like, but I would’ve guessed in 11-14 range.
The teams above us aren’t outrageous. Texas, LSU & Oregon are the ones I’d question, bc they are totally projections.

The rest I can live with. UNC son’d us 6 months ago, even if they are a bit high on this list. Wisc is always right around 15 and own us H2H. Cinci looked solid last year and keep moving in the right direction with a great HC and staff that coach their guys up.

17 puts you in the mix. As always, if you win, the rest will take care of itself.

They are not a top 10 team but they have a big name QB, likeable coach, and relatively easy schedule. Anything less than 10 wins for them is a disappointment.

They've also recruited very well, with 3 Top 20 classes in the past 4 years.

Including being #14 and #13 the past 2 cycles (2020 and 2021).

They've gotten some good kids out of the portal the past few years as well. I believe they'll have 3 DB starters this year all from the portal. McMichael from Clemson, Cam Kelly from Auburn and Bryce Watts from VT who opted out last year.

They usually recruit good kids on the DL, and the last 2 classes are no exception, pulling in Top 50 talents both classes (Dez Evans and Keeshawn Silver).

I think they're kind of a media darling again because of the ceiling. Like games against us, putting up 56 against VT, they scored 104 points last year against their 2 in-state rivals, etc. And Howell is obviously excellent. So I can see how, without really examining their roster and results, you could project them as a Top 10 team. But they haven't been consistent at all yet. 4 losses last year, 6 losses the year before. The defense is still very average. They were 74th in the country last year in YPP allowed. 64th in scoring defense. They gave up 41 points to Virginia. 45 to VT. 53 to Wake. So, let's pump the brakes a little. And, what people don't understand fully yet is they lost a LOT of offensive production. Their leading returning rusher is Sam Howell. Carter and Williams are taking almost 2400 yards with them to the NFL. Dyami Brown and his 1100 yards are gone. Dazz Newsome and his almost 700 yards are gone. Williams and Carter were their 4th and 5th leading receivers. That's well over 65% of Howell's passing yards that will have to go to other targets.

They'll be fine, Howell is good and Phil Longo is one of the best offensive minds in the game (watch how quickly they decline when he leaves, by the way. He's going to be a HC soon). So sure, let people put them up at #10. Week 1 they play on Friday night, at Lane, in what will probably be once again a packed house and very intimidating environment. They very well may end up leaving there 0-1, so this Top 10 talk might be extinguished very quickly. They go to Pitt on a Thursday night. They play in South Bend. They play in Raleigh the day after Thanksgiving. They get FSU again. We come calling on 10/16 as the 7th of 7 straight weeks with a game. I don't care where they start the year ranked. They won't finish it in the Top 10.

They didn't just beat us, we were curbed stomped!
Eh.. You know better than that. They whipped our asses, but we brought the paddles, handed it to them and then bent over pants to ankles.

We had as much to do with that L as they did if not more.

They are not bad, but they are not that good. Top 25 good but absolutely not Top 10 good.

Don't be shy. Nobody does it quite the way you do.

One of the worst embarrassments in all of my sixty plus years of watching UM football. That's why I have so much trouble accepting that we are going to have a chance to beat a Nick Saban-coached team. I would love to believe it, but just being competitive in that game for four quarters would be a major victory for us. A superior team does not collapse. It adjusts and fights back. We collapsed.

Good thing we’re not playing them with the 2020 team. Players or coaches.
