I think it stems from him being a fan of the U to some degree, growing up and being from the area. He definitely brings a unique outsider perspective, though (having attended elsewhere, coached elsewhere) and an insider perspective (having grown up here and around the OB, and having coached here last three years). One can say similar things about Richt, but the “Open to it...” part seemed to be missing, seemed like it was a emotionally crippling issue for him. And not just here, but also at UGA. It cost him his job here.He sounds like one of us that he knows what needs to be done and is open to it....
He does have an ego, he wants to win. He’s just not a dyck with it like Richt, Golden and Shannon.If, and I really hope he is, successful at Miami it’s because he has no ego and is always willing to consider a better way to win.
