Anyone who actually thinks the reason the defense sucks or the main reason or even a good fraction of why this defense sucks is mike's fault is simply clueless. He's responsible for db play and nothing more. Db play is beyond basic and has regressed under mike's command. The players mike has in his room isn't even close to mike's call. If you want someone to be responsible for success or failure than you let them do their job on their terms. Anything less is simply creating a scapegoat. The defense has huge issues schematically, with personell & most glaringly staphing & development. That starts and ends up top. Not with a position coach.

There's nothing breaking about Manny meeting with James. The HC has met with the AD after the season (typically early January) for as long as I can remember. They all need to go. Just start over fresh with a DC who is a known tactician, runs a very tight ship, holds guys accountable, scares the living &hit out of players, and has mastered an aggressive 4-3 D with gap discipline and good fundamental play at all 3 levels.

Manny's much vaunted D ain't &hit. Tired of seeing our DL just flying upfield recklessly only to expose our &hitty LBs and praying that our Safeties can come up and save the day - or watching our CBs get smoked by a WR who caught a 10 yard slant.

I was only really impressed with Stroud, but for the good of the program show them all the door and hand the keys to a DC who knows what he's doing and let him hire his guys.

@gogeta4 brother was it you I had the discussion with about conferences? Not tryin to prove a point here but do you see the conference who by far performed the worst out of all conferences let alone p5? Wasn't gonna bring up oklahoma st being a middle of the pack school or anything else. But the best measure of what your conference is comes from competing directly against other conferences. Not just out of conference playing girls ymca but other competent squads... Acc 0-6... Only other one that was winless had 4 less opportunities in pac 12 being 0-2. It's not a normal sign of who's what but it's pretty accurate for what it is NOW.
