SIAP, is this legit?

That isn't micromanagement.

It's called leadership. Although I will agree in how it is engaged is a fine line.

There isn't a single HRO on the planet that operates in that manner (e.g. "monthly is pushing it"). There isn't a single "hands off" organization on the planet that consistently outperforms any HRO in any meaningful industry.

Appreciate any examples (im sure we could think of one or two). Off top of my head, I can name probably 10-20 HROs that are national-global leaders.

My guess is (although he doesnt call it that) Saban runs Bama with many HRO elements in-place*.

*I'm cheating, I know for fact he has copied the Toyota Managment System.

Little know fact, Saban taught Taiichi Ohno the TMS.

Yeah but this is a football coaching, its not a year round thing. Even during the season, to be in the office or nearby the field 60 hours plus a week you'd have to find yourself work.
I always say, people who have nothing to do set up meetings.

major college coaches have one of the most involved, stressful jobs in sports. there's no off-season for them. they're coaching, recruiting, or both all year.

@Zombie-Cane is one of the smartest gatos round this public square.

I have a picture of Ohno on my wall.

He [Taiichi] is THE WAY to fix Miami football.
Brother, I have learned and adopted the TMS in every aspect of my professional career, and even a ton of it at home. I also teach it, not as much as before, but it is great stuff. Common sense approach to EVERYTHING!!

In my experience, the frequency of the meetings is determined by the nature of the work. When I had relatively green programmers working for me on a short deadline, we had weekly meetings to discuss issues, obstacles, and expectations in order to meet deadlines. I've had other organizations where we met monthly just so we can remember what the whole department looks like together because everyone had different functions.
For me, the number of meetings was determined by where I was on the food chain. The higher up, the more meetings. Meetings called by superiors and meetings I called with my staff.

The key is to hire great people, relate the expectations, and let them get to work checking on them as often as necessary.

I'll only get behind this if one of the new hires is coming in as DC and Baker is getting demoted
To this, or worse

If Manny really does retain Blake “Lobotomy” Baker, then he is even dumber than this board says he is. I can’t believe he is that totally brain dead...but we shall see.

I worked for the largest (at the time) OEM and aftermarket automotive parts manufacturer for 15 years. We studied and adopted many of the TMS principles that made the company much more efficient and nimble.

There’s no doubt that many of the TMS philosophies can be adapted to virtually any industry and in one’s personal life as well. It changed the way I viewed work and most definitely changed the way I do things in my personal life.

I'm not saying there are yet. But what I am saying is IF the changes as described are true, it stands to reason, logically, that Baker won't be retained. You don't sweep the rug out from under someone as a vote of confidence.
We shall see!

1) If you don't think coaching football for a major D1 school is a year-round job, I'd guess you've never really worked...
2) I've had jobs where all I do, all day long, is have meetings. I've been in three meetings at the same time. This also makes it seem like you've never really worked.

Have you ever had a job where you don't get to go home and turn it off completely? I missed Christmas with my family because of an error that was not my fault, but I had to fix it because if something went wrong, I'd have to explain it.
You’re right dude, you’re most important hardest working person on this board and I’ve never worked, totally nailed it.
Most people have experienced everything you have. That’s the grind of trying to very successful. Been a construction manager for multiple 100+millions jobs project throughout a province, in your case a state. I just try and limit meetings unless it’s defcon 5.

Not sure why you went to personal insults, when my post had literally nothing to do with you.
