SIAP: Insight Into Richt’s Last Year At UGA

Only rival richt had a losing record against was uf

1-5 vs. Meyer
2-5 vs. Saban

2008 was the beginning of the end when Georgia was ranked Pre-season #1. They were stacked on both sides of the ball - Stafford, Moreno, AJ Green, Geno Atkins, Justin Houston, Reshad Jones. Lots of Pro Bowlers & 1st round talent.

And in 2008 they got absolutely destroyed by Alabama and Florida, then also lost to GT.

Spurrier was 7-6 against Richt.

Not exactly having someone's number.

2007 & 2012 were 2 of Richts best Georgia teams:

2007 - Lost by 7 to a 6-6 South Carolina team
2012 - Lost by 28 to a 11-2 South Carolina team

Spurrier had 5 teams that ended up in the Top 25 when he played Richt, and Richt was 1-4 in those games.

This does nothing to prove what the original poster said.

a Hall of Fame coach going 7-6 again somebody is not having their number.

Kirby Smart got absolutely destroyed by 4-loss Auburn last year.

So Mark Richt got destroyed by potentially the two best teams, and coaches, in the game?

Lynch this man!

When Spurrier had good teams from 2010 - 2013, he had Richts number. Richts wins came mostly vs. the 6 & 7 win South Carolina teams Spurrier had.

2006 - 2013 - Alabama, UF, LSU & Auburn each played in the NC game at least twice, and each won 1.

When Georgia has never reached a NC game under Richt, and sees 4 Schools in their conference have playing for multiple NC's over an 8 years period, and is riding a 3 game losing streak to South Carolina, it justifiably creates an underachieving complex.

I love the new red/green bar. It really lets us separate the posters from the ***aloons at a glance.

***aloon alert above!!!

The fact is Kirby won the SEC in his 2nd year (something Richt only did 2 times in 15 years) and went to the NC (something Richt never did).

And Kirby's recruiting has been on a completely different level than Richt.

UGA was without one of their key defensive starters. You see what they did to them in the SEC championship rematch.

Two of, if not THE two, greatest coaches in college football history.

Nobody has put Richt in that category.
So much slurping.

They're pretty good coaches who learned to game the system - by the book & otherwise - & have put themselves in places that allow them to do it on a massive scale. That's what we've seen for the last 10 years.

As I see it, two things can put a stop to it:
1- an NCAA crackdown
2- a school in fertile recruiting grounds with an appeal that can overcome the $ bags & waterslides

We've seen nothing that indicates the SEC's top programs will be held accountable anytime soon, but there's no denying that the Canes are the ideal team in the right location to break this cycle. The wheels are already in motion. I think that in the coming years, as we put up bigger wins in better spots, we'll see more & more of the top SoFla high school talent stay home. We saw it with Storm18 kids like Gurvan Hall, who said thanks but no thanks when Saban landed his chopper on his HS team's field.

I think we'll see some epic battles in the coming years...possibly with fitting headlines:

-"Prayin Pastor Richt vs Cheatin Little Nick"
-"Sunday School Fire vs Meyer the liar"

Georgia was a better program than Auburn even though Auburn had two fluke championship appearances.

I also love how people manipulate facts to support their arguments.

So we can't count their entire history vs each other. We have to count only the years where Spurrier had a good team (2010-13) despite the fact that two of Richt's worst teams came in the span.

It's totally ****amamie.

Ain't much better then Cane "fans"googling stats to try and make our coach look bad while propping up Georgia's'.
