SIAP - Ed Reed on the Transfer Portal

Lol…the only constant is change.

And Ed we all idolize but if he wants to coach as badly as he says, he better get used to the transfer portal

You get 4 maybe 5 years to maximize your potential to see the field and turn football into something more...

do what's best for you kid. Your coaches are going to do what's best for them and their program, the **** with whatever they tell your parents while they're recruiting you

We talk about some new age of kids not sticking it out bc the old guys were tougher. I'd bet my last dollar that a whole lot of the old school canes we idolize would have finished up elsewhere if transferring without losing a year was a possibility. Mindsets haven't changed, options have (rightfully so).
mindset has certainly changed in this generation. The nuetering of males across this nation.

Why are some of us critical of the player who transfers but not the coach who leaves a school for a ‘better’ job?

Mark Stoops should get out of his contract at Kentucky and come to Miami where he has an easier path to a conference title and CFP berth, but a backup player who transfers in search of more playing time is a quitter…okay…
I can honestly give a **** about the coach, I only care about the performance of the team. Is there anyone who actively roots for the coach on gameday?

The transfer portal players have been great for one-year, temporary boost to the Canes roster. King, Bolden, Phillips, Rambo, KJ Osborn, etc.

I think this is a subtle shot at CMD’s pronouncements that he will not have a full recruiting class, but will rely on the transfer portal to fill out the roster next year. Basically, it’s lazy recruiting for not spending the time and effort to identify those players with potential and lazy coaching for not wanting to develop young players.

But if you want to identify and recruit young athletes like JW, Avante, Kam, Jafahri, etc., and give them opportunities to develop and grow into great players, the transfer portal players are standing in the way. FACTS

I'm generally like that as well.

The last coach I really liked was Richt. Prior to him, Coker. Coaching aside, they are both just damned good people.

By the same token, I never really disliked a coach here. I just was whatever about them. Shannon though, his story on how he came up with his family would've made one **** of a movie or series of he had killed it here.

Ultimately, you're paid to win. Hard as nails coaches or they seem like an ***, I'm fine as long as they win. I crack up every time someone says Saban is an *** or whatever. He gets results, the personal crap I don't care about.

Ed Reed these days kinda sucks. He seems to always be whining or angry about everything

He does not suck. He makes a solid point, based on his earlier experiences. Nobody "sucks" because they have a difference of opinion that prioritizes high school kids over seasoned college athletes.
