Yeah “anyone can say anything they want”. That’s what you are doing making **** up you moron…You’re talking out of your A$$. The information is straight from the University and you’re still in denial?
You're a clueless dip****, as per usual.
Your "information straight from the University" states that we accepted a bid to join a newly-formed Big East. It does not say that we played a Big East conference schedule in 1991 (we did not). It does not say that we won the Big East Conference in 1991 (we did not). It does not say that we played in the Orange Bowl as the conference champ representative of the Big East (we did not).
IN FACT, if anyone deserves to call themselves the "Big East champion" in 1991, it would be Syracuse, who went 5-0 against "Big East opponents" in 1991, beating 5 of the other 7 teams in the Big East except for Miami (2-0 against Big East teams) and Virginia Tech (1-0 against Big East teams). Last time I checked, 5-0 is better than 2-0 and 1-0. Good lord, imagine Virginia Tech had won the national championship in 1991 and claimed to represent the "Big East" after playing ONE GAME against a Big East team...
IN FACT, the reason that Miami was in the Orange Bowl was its #1 ranking, not its Big East membership. The reality is that if everyone was being honest, Miami should have been playing in the Sugar Bowl against #3 Florida, because the Rose Bowl was #2 Washington against #4 Michigan. Had Miami beaten #3 Florida instead of #11 Nebraska, it is very likely that there would NOT have been a split national championship, as the coaches poll had Washington at #2 BEFORE the Rose Bowl and only vaulted Washington to #1 after they beat #4 Michigan. Instead, #3 Florida had to play #18 Notre Dame in the "Cheerios Bowl" (due to the comment a waiter supposedly told Irish head coach Lou Holtz at a restaurant that "the difference between Cheerios and Notre Dame is that Cheerios belong in a bowl."). ****, Florida would have had a legitimate shot at the national championship had they beaten Miami and Michigan beaten Washington.
Yes, we wore a "patch" to "represent" the fact that we played TWO WHOLE GAMES against Big East teams. That doesn't make us a Big East conference representative. Syracuse was more of a Big East representative, they were two games away from playing a full Big East schedule.
