I believe we go to Big10 in the distant future. I WANT to be in the SEC. Those teams will draw crowds more than the lower half of the Big10.
Yep, because Mississippi State or Kentucky coming to town is so incredibly great. I'll never for the life of me understand why our fans love the SEC so **** much. We aren't a cultural, academic, or even athletic fit in the SEC. The only thing we truly fit in the SEC is geography.

Being the B1G makes sense for every other reason, outside of geography and even then, we are an east coast school, that happens to be located in the South. Our alumni base is heavy throughout B1G country, especially in DC and NY. Any trips to Maryland, Penn State, or Rutgers will be extremely popular with our alumni base. We will also do well in playing schools like USC and UCLA. We have existing beef with Ohio State, Nebraska and Penn State, so those games will be very easy to market. It's very likely that FSU would remain an OOC game if we were to be in separate conferences, so we wouldn't even lose that game.

This. I hope we never go to the B1G, and if I we do 90% of the idiots voting for it will wonder why we struggle to recruit in the south anymore.

We are pulling recruits from Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana… SEC is our destination.
Miami can recruit ANYWHERE, regardless of conference. We aren't Nebraska, where they don't have a local recruiting base and desperately need to be in a conference that allows them access to talent.

Why would Mario favor the SEC?
Right! I don’t think UiF wants any part of us in the SEC, and that will be the hang up. Besides we offer nothing as far as geography because they already have the Fla market. Now…. surrounding a SEC stronghold by getting us and fsu could possibly be seen as very attractive to B1G conference leadership. Maybe too big to pass up, even if it’s just us. I would hate the travel, but love the money.

It really doesn’t matter what P2 we are in but I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be a uniform ending 👀 Cats was so set on Adidas this, Adidas that, Adidas done deal and WHAM! Nike…yup, B10 this, B10 that, B10 done deal and WHAM! SEC.🤨

Is this poll a prediction or what we prefer?

If its a prediction id say big10, if it’s what i prefer id say sec…Overall im for wherever the most money and spotlight is, but for football fan purposes only i think the sec is a much smoother transition because of recruiting and travel

But i also think we would spank alot of those big10 teams lol, we would be a tier1 team in either conference but we immediately are top3 with osu /indiana easily.

1. Much less travel
2. Guaranteed to play FSU/UF on a regular basis
3. Helps with recruiting in ATL, DFW, HOU and anywhere else in the South
4. Would make recruiting easier in SoFla (and the rest of the state, too)
5. Nick Saban is in his ear pushing the SEC
6. Mario likely believes the SEC is better and isn't the type to run from a challenge
7. Much less travel
8. Much less travel
This. I know this board seems to want to be in the BIG but could you imagine having to travel out west 2, maybe 3 times in a year and if not out west, up north somewhere in the Northeast or Midwest. What’s the closest BIG program to the University of Miami? Maryland? I think people underestimate how taxing it is for players, coaches, and staff to do all that traveling.

Unless they regionalize the BIG when the next expansion occurs, I’d prefer to play in a conference that makes geographical sense. And you might be onto something with Saban’s close friendship with Mario. If push came to shove and Miami was in talks with joining the SEC, I could absolutely see Saban being a positive influence regarding our potential membership.

We can recruit anywhere - but it makes a difference.

Think about it, you can have family and friends attend a few of your games a year if you are from Louisiana or Alabama and we are in the SEC, or none at all if we are in the B1G…

That will impact recruiting for sure. Mama Fletcher is a prime example - she was willing to drive to Stanford to see her kid play. How many moms are willing to do that?

Thanks @No_Fly_Zone!!!

My prediction: Canes announce by May 2027 that we're leaving the ACC -- and will play our last football season in the ACC in either 2027 or worst-case scenario 2028

Thus, technically speaking, the dust will have settled by 12-31-2027 and we're just riding things out until the move.

Destination: SEC

The biggest reason comes down to the ultimate decision-maker on this matter. I think Joe E will defer to Mario and Mario will be in favor of the SEC and that will be that.

BIG10*

We won four titles as an Independent.

Putting a patch on your uniform while playing TWO teams with similar patches doesn't mean you played a conference schedule and won a conference. We played exactly TWO "Big East" teams in 1991, West Virginia and Boston College, both of whom were also Independent, and were already on our schedule, regardless of the "Big East" fake name.

Here:

"The Big East did not crown an official champion until 1993 when full league play began."
Well technically the Big East did not crown an official champion until 1993 when full league play began.
But Miami honored the patch and claimed 3 independent Championship..
