They were great in the booth.
I've griped about McDonough a number of times in the past, but he set aside the unnecessary grumpiness and pontificating and did a fantastic job of filling his play-by-play role.
His intro to the history of the Miami-Notre Dame series was as good — and even-handed — as it gets. If you didn't know a thing about the Canes-Irish rivalry beforehand, you were up to speed at kickoff.
McElroy was McElroy. The guy clearly loves the nuts and bolts of football. As always, he delivered his explanations and analysis concisely with no yammering or meandering off-subject like many color commentators.
