Short-Yardage Run Game

You need at least average guards and center on the OLine in short yardage. Ours have been putrid for a decade. No back can overcome that ineptitude up front.

I don’t inderstand why we never put the QB under center in short yardage situations. No QB sneak option (TVD is a big dude), and RB takes handoff 5 yards behind LOS from a standing start.
If he was to get hurt we have no replacement for him. We have to walk a tight rope for a while

How many times are we going to run the ball up the middle against an 11 man front. Fckin moron
i always think.....this m f r isn't going to run it straight up the middle, again, after it NEVER working, but i know he will and i want to punch him in the face

How creative does one need to be to impose your will to fall forward 3 feet?

FFS.
More creative than his one play. Should we be able to bully them for a yard sure but easy isnt the Miami way under Diaz. Things go from 3rd or 4th and 1 to 3rd/4th and 4 cuz we only go shotgun

Unfortunately, Miami fans are seeing first hand the issues Auburn fans had with Rhett. Would love to know his thought process when deciding to call certain plays in certain situations.

You all don't get it. Now FSU will think we are going to run it on 3rd and 1, only to have TVD burn them deep. Chess...

All day long we ran off tackle and gained 5-6+ yds a run and is where Roosters bigger runs came from.

But for whatever reason Asslee continues to run up the middle time and time again.Don’t understand it.If I know it’s coming and 98% of guys on here know it’s coming then you have to believe the other DC knows it’s coming.

I swear I can’t remember us gaining a yd on this since Asslee’s been here even though he’s tried to run it AT LEAST 50-60 times. He’s either stupid , arrogant or both and I’m leaning toward the latter….

Like others have said, our 3rd and short run plays have been garbage for years now. It started with Shannon. Worst I ever saw was the Golden years (until Diaz). Actually improved under Richt with Walton, Homer, and Dallas. Also Rosier successfully running the RPO in 2017. Regressed a little in 2018 and now has sunk to its lowest point under Diaz and Lashlee.

I honestly thought it would never be worse than the Golden regime when we were stonewalled constantly on short yard situations, but here we are.

i remember someone posting an excerpt from auburn fans in regards to Lashlee when we hired him.

Everything was 100 percent true dto a t.

They said after a big play it would 90% be an inside zone after on 1st....TRUE...

and he essentially only calls that inside zone rpo play.....TRUE.

I think if we ran a toss sweep a de might tear an acl....we havent ran it since hes been here.

Im still trying to understand do we not have a rushing play other than inside zone AT ALL. I knew from being at the game those short yardage plays wont work as they walked up guys....and whenever we lined up they tightened up their dl before the snap and knew we would get no push at all or much of a chance to bounce with the free man 100 percent coming...and no threat on the qb ever keeping it as King and now TVD never keep it.
