For all the haters and drive-by artists this might be hard to stomach, but the most recent ESPN rankings have the Canes at #8. We're actually #3 if you exclude SEC programs, the obvious fair-haired child of recruiting analysts/insiders and ESPN. So based on this, we're ahead of Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Clemson, Texas . . . mildly stunning accomplishment based on our regular-season finish, Louisville fiasco, Penn State flirtation and late recruiting drama.

1 Alabama
2 Texas A&M
3 Florida State
4 LSU
5 Tennessee
6 Ohio State
7 Florida
8 Miami (FL)
9 Auburn
10 Georgia
11 Notre Dame
12 Michigan
13 Clemson
14 Texas
15 Ole Miss
16 Oklahoma
17 Arizona State
18 Baylor
19 Stanford
20 Kentucky

Enough with the rah rah we still got a good class threads. Yeah we got a good class, but with the available talent in SFL this year, there's no way we should be outside the top 5.

You can't keep them all in SFL, but we missed on many of the biggest ones.

It's a good class, no doubt ... the problem that most people have is that we failed at the ONE position we couldn't afford to and lost the one guy that we really needed in TV. At least thats my problem with the class. I could deal with losing Lane, Cook, Dixon, Rudolph, etc ... But, not getting an elite DT in this class on a team with little to no DT talent is troubling.

is anthony moten a scrub?

I've been critical of the staff since the Louisville debacle. IMO, rightfully so. But this class is strong and anybody that says otherwise is not being objective. Like someone said yesterday, if we flipped Kaaya, Chad Thomas and Yearby on NSD, we would be the toast of ESPN. As is the nature of NSD, the teams that "close" best, get most of the publicity. For whatever reason, Miami just hasn't closed strong since 2008 NSD.

No, looks like he'll be a solid player. The DT class isn't completely devoid of talent, I just felt like a guy like TV is elite and a game changer at the position and is someone we desperately needed - especially if we going to continue to run a 3-4.

I think Moten is an elite DT, and unlike most high profile DT's nowadays, he seems to have pretty good character!

Colt.... Anthony Moten a scrub? A 4 star talent, with huge size ranked in the top 15 in his position is a scrub?

You guys are truly a bunch of *******!

Why would we be excluding the SEC?

If you have a crootin first staff instead of a coaching first staff then you gotta be able to fight thru and overcome the bagman, otherwise there is no point to having a crootin first staff.

Hahaha I didn't see that posted before I posted the Chad Thomas "Yea?". I think Moten will be a 3 year starter.

that was my point. yearby and moten are elite and we act like they don't matter. half this board didn't think powell could play rb and when he switched, the world ended. there is a lot of quality here.

That's because a potential recruit is always better when he goes somewhere else. Some people are determined to be miserable. They act like they've been living in a gulag for 20 years.

Lol at thinking they put sec schools in front of because of bias, they have as good a class if not better and they land elite dts n close. We hit the jag free agency wire while they close, then every1 here will think the jag is a diamong that was over looked based on a secret hilight tape. N dont give that corn elder ****

There is WAY too much emphasis on the handful of guys that make choices on NSD every year. This is the best UM class in a while, even if we have zero guys commit tomorrow. We missed out on several studs in Dade/Broward/Palm Beach and we will miss out on several more that decide tomorrow. Overall though, the group we do have is really good, and it is excellent on defense, where we need it most.

our defense need help, we got a dt that ed orgeron personally recruited, a 4 star dt, we are expecting a 5 star de to sign. We have owens who was an all american and espy top 300. Ky Hester who is a 4 star, mike smith who is basically a 4 star, d jackson a 4 star, etc. we at least added depth. It's pure quality. 2012 had a few studs and a lot of average guys.

I love the class. Well balance with impact players at every position except CB.

I wish we had one more DT, RB and CB. Also, a WR that could step in right away and push the starters.
