Shocking development: Recruiting news isn't all bad

This class is great. Lot of 3* hurt rating. Losing TV hurt but this is far and away best DT class we have seen in long time and the DEs are off the chart. There was a lot of talent down here we did not get and that makes us think class is bad. It couldhave been much better but it is great.

For all the haters and drive-by artists this might be hard to stomach, but the most recent ESPN rankings have the Canes at #8. We're actually #3 if you exclude SEC programs, the obvious fair-haired child of recruiting analysts/insiders and ESPN. So based on this, we're ahead of Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Clemson, Texas . . . mildly stunning accomplishment based on our regular-season finish, Louisville fiasco, Penn State flirtation and late recruiting drama.

Try not to start with a cheap, trite, expression and you will sound more like an adult. You could have made your point without it.

Sorry, certainly could think of a few more adult-like adjectives, but probably best to refrain.

In all seriousness do you actually realize that this loser mentality is basically the same as saying you don't care about national titles anymore. Lets just give the title to the SEC champ and we can play for the NON-SEC TITLE.

I guess your super stoked that we won 9 games last year.

Man when did Miami fans forget what Miami was about?

You could have also kept this point to yourself as it couldn't be any more unnecessary. Try a different username,Chuckles, you will sound and appear more as an adult.

Opinions differ. Are you having a bad day? Rustled you jimmies did I? There's your trite for you, now defend me. ;-)

So by that logic next years team will be better than the 2001 team. FAIL!

The truth is that at one time Miami was not scouted as heavily and subsequently was not rated correctly and our rankings were always understated. People in South Florida knew that our kids were simply better. Now that's not the case because every one and their brother is scouted, rated and ranked down here.

if you really want to compare apples to apples you wont look at the ratings you will look at how many of the dade, broward and neighboring counties top athletes go to Miami now vs then. I think you will be very surprised because it in direct correlation to our success.

There is no winning formula at the U that does not include getting almost every single SFL stud you want, need and go after. You miss out on Nix then you lose your title winning DT, you miss out on Bridgewater and you miss your title winning QB, You miss out on Watkins and Cooper then you miss out on your title winning WRs.

Thats not an opinion its a fact so quit selling yourself short and understand what makes Miami the U. We have more talent in a 50 mile radius than any other school in the Nation. No excuses can erase that fact.

Enough with the rah rah we still got a good class threads. Yeah we got a good class, but with the available talent in SFL this year, there's no way we should be outside the top 5.

You can't keep them all in SFL, but we missed on many of the biggest ones.

Well when ya go 9-4 and don't have the resources like Florida, you would be dumb to expect a top 5 class. This is not the 80's and 90's anymore homie.

Our main pool is the best in the country. We are the hometown school. If you can't continually land a top 10 recruiting class at Miami, you and your staff suck as recruiters.

And for the "everyone is trying to get in down here hueuhe" crap, there's more than enough studs from Dade to Palm Beach for us to land a top 10 class annually. We only hit on something like 34% of the elite kids this year, and we are still fringe top 10.

Per ESPN

2006 - 17
2007 - 9
2008 - 1
2009 - 7
2010 - 13
2011 - Bad (out of top 25)
2012 - 8
2013 - 15

I agree this is a great class, Golden flirting with penn state hurt. We got kids that wanted to be a part of the U. Could the class have been better absolutely

Miami doesn't have the money to get the top coaches and recruiters man. New day and age. For the mediocre year they just had record wise and ncaa cloud just being gone, I am satisfied with this class. Definite top 15 maybe top 10.

Hey, check your facts and then come back and talk. Show the number of Dade-Broward kids from the days of Howard and Jimmy vs. today? It probably isn't vastly different proportion wise. Kelly, Kosar, Testaverde, Maryland, Sapp, Brown, Lewis - these weren't Dade-Broward kids. And don't throw out Nix as a DT who kept us from a championship or whatever. ****, he's from Jacksonville.

Dade-Broward kids have always left the area and always will. And we'll still draw the bulk of our kids from the area.

On a year to year basis you're probably right, but this year, there an no excuses for missing on so many studs with UM ties in SFL.

I will give you an example of what I am talking about.

In 2001 the top 5 players in Dade county were Antrel Role 5*, Frank Gore 4*, Jovonny Ward 4*, Sean Taylor 3* and Roscoe Parrish 2*. We went after and got all 5 of them. Notice that Sean Taylor and Roscoe Parrish even though they were voted as the top players in the county they were rated very low. This year we have 3 of Dade counties top 25 players in Yearby (#1), Thomas (#6) and Darling (#10). We struck out on many of them including 3. Ermon Lane, 5. Dalvin Cook, 8. C.J. Worton and at least 5 others on the top 25 list. This has basically been the trend since 2006 excluding 2008.

So by that logic next years team will be better than the 2001 team. FAIL!

Do we have the DTs we want....no? Say no more. It should be 27 DT commits and a few DTs off waivers for good measure.. Also a DT as the DC and DL coach. That pathetic *** shhh they running need steriods to perform.

If u exclude the SEC, then the rest of college football won the last 8 national titles! Woohoo!!!

I think the OP is on to something here

Not as much as the SEC does.
