Word is Kevin Warren hired a "crisis PR team" to handle all communication with national media. Yesterday's absolute sh*t show of social media posts, etc. seemed to drive that decision.
The expectation is the Presidents and Chancellors of Big Ten schools WILL hold some kind of 'vote' either Friday or Saturday. There is a scheduled Conference call between Presidents/Chancellors already scheduled for Friday so it is unknown if a vote will occur then or take place in a separate call on Saturday. It is being speculated that the vote will include the ability for a school to "opt out" of playing, regardless of how they vote. The vote could be 6 to 10 teams will opt in to play and 4 to 8 teams will opt out. Those who may "opt out" would include Maryland, Rutgers, Michigan State, Minnesota, Illinois and Northwestern . Those who likely decide to play include OSU, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, Indiana and Michigan.
It is believed that behind the scenes there has been pressure on all Presidents to vote in favor of playing , thus getting a unanimous vote. The "out" for those who don't want to play is the "opt out" loophole.
The schedule could end up being a 10 game conference only schedule if the number of opt-out schools are on the lower end. Otherwise a schedule with a home-away series with schools could be crafted.
It sounds like there is a strong belief that IF the Big Ten votes to begin fall sports, especially football, immediately - October 10th is the date being thrown around- the lawsuit initiated against the Big Ten by the Nebraska football players will be dropped. Warren and the Presidents/Chancellors do NOT want to continue forward with the latest court ordered discovery and the possibility of perjury unveiled due to the signed affidavit of a previous "vote".
