It's a bit misleading though. Plenty of people don't die from influenza, they die from pneumonia caused by influenza. On the Covid forum there's a thread about it. There are some questionable deaths, but most are still caused by Covid.

Big Ten brief shows 11-3 vote to postpone season

Big Ten presidents and chancellors voted 11-3 to postpone the fall football season, the league confirmed Monday in a brief and two affidavits filed in response to a lawsuit from eight Nebraska players.

According to the written response, only 3 schools voted NOT to delay the season. Sources have revealed that those schools were Ohio State, Nebraska and Iowa.

League bylaws require at least 60% of the council to approve key decisions. The Nebraska players' lawsuit and others had questioned the process and the mechanics of the vote, noting that Minnesota president Joan Gabel stopped short of describing an actual vote.

In the past hour, from the Ohio State 247 board:

"Bucknuts has learned that the Big Ten's presidents and chancellors have tentatively agreed to hold a new vote regarding whether the 2020 fall football season should happen, and if it can begin as soon as Oct. 10. This vote is expected to take place on Friday of this week. Perhaps Saturday."


9 votes are needed to overturn the original decision to postpone. Bylaws require 60% of the total (14)

Also today, the Nebraska court ruled that The Big Ten must disclose additional information related to its decision to postpone fall sports and do so in the next 10 days.

The Big Ten must produce all documents reflecting whether an official vote was taken on the decision, including the official tally but not including how individual members voted. It must also reveal in full its governing documents and bylaws — it submitted 13 pages of bylaws to the court last week but redacted more than 11 full pages.

The typical timeline for discovery in Nebraska is 45 days. Between NU players filing their lawsuit Aug. 27 and the Sept. 12 deadline, the Big Ten will be compelled to disclose documents within 16 days. Players’ argument to speed up the process is based on the idea that the decision to postpone wrongfully interferes with their business expectations to build their person brand and potentially profit from their name, image and likeness within a fall college season.
