Sherrone Moore - fired for cause

Let’s say Bama gets smoked by Oklahoma in the playoff and Deboer gets canned. Who are they hiring? And who is going to win enough there to keep a job more than four years? If I’m someone like Cignetti or Lanning, I’m not touching that job with a ten foot pole. It’s not 2012 anymore. Alabama no longer has their own set of rules that nobody else gets to play by. They’ll have plenty of financial support but nothing that’s going to put them head and shoulders above any other big time program. Nothing short of winning a national title every other season is going to please the fan base. Kirby’s run at UGA wouldn’t be good enough for them.
Moore was making 5.5 million/year.
Michigan may have to double that to get any takers. I think they will focus on the Chargers DC Jesse Minter. He was the Michigan DC under Harbaugh.

No, UM waited to obtain conclusive proof from investigative firm (photos don’t lie) before axing him. Moore was apparently on very thin ice before that. If anything the AD stuck his neck out in hiring Moore as he had never been a head coach before

oh and since they mysteriously found cause, they don’t have to pay buyout either, win win for M.

Why are people surprised they waited till after the season to fire him? Every single school in the country would do the exact same thing 😂😂

Almost parody at this point

Why do people care about the timeline so much? At the end of the day the fired him. What else is Michigan going to do? Let’s say they found in early November. Of course they’re going to wait to fire him. They were still in playoff contention and the biggest game of the year was approaching. No school would do it in similar circumstances😂😂

Not true. Bama was blown out by UGA and FSU. It's too much to ask by the Bama fanbase to be competitive in every game? Bama had -3 rushing yards against UGA. Should a proud fanbase that pays their coaches top dollar accept that? I have to ask these questions b/c now I'm wondering about your football knowledge.

So they can fire AD too??

yeah that was part 1 of my two likely scenarios, she spoke up and they couldnt ignore it. Timing is still suspect. They apparently interviewed her earlier and she said no then reversed course. The question then of course is why reverse? Did Moore and her fight? promise he was leaving his wife? maybe the relationship ended naturally and someone else pushed her to come forward? maybe she legit just had a change of heart, all plausible to me. but it seems clear that Michigan did not do this to protect the girl they did it to protect themselves, whether it was to try to avoid looking like they are protecting a HC who bangs his assistants or to avoid paying him a big buyout, this was not altruistic by michigan and Moore, who did this to himself, was in the crosshair under either scenario.
My guess is that it was the random accounts posting her name, photo, and business on Twitter (one of them in this thread was posted on 12/3) that led her to changing her story and essentially forcing Michigan to fire him, ending the charade.

For Michigan to pay Moore $5.5 mil/year shows they regarded him as a "long-term interim" head coach. In the world of tier 1 Power schools, that's chump change. Think about it. Miami is paying their QB at least $4 mil for 1 season. Michigan will have no problem with paying double what Moore was making and then some.

According to one of the Detroit papers, UM did their own internal investigation last summer which wasn’t conclusive (Moore/mistress both denied it even though many knew about it). UM then hired an outside investigative firm and obtained the proof they were seeking to show him the door.
Sounds about right, everyone knew it was happening, they just needed the proof to fire with cause, no buyout, just wait till OSU game, National Signing day to announce. Bottom line is M wanted him gone, didn’t want the optics of firing “the glass ceiling breaker” and found a way to get rid of coach Shlong.

co-worker of mine has a sister that went to Michigan and was involved in the athletic department. From the sister to my co-worker (no idea if this is all true but this is what she heard and told my co-worker).......

He was sleeping with and apparently got pregnant his Personal Assistant.
A plan B box/pill was delivered to Moore's office at the football facility hahahahah how ******* dumb can you be
Word started to get out and Moore went to the chicks house/apartment and pulled a knife on her threatening to kill her if she talked to anyone and then threatened to kill himself in her apartment
The assistants salary went from $58k to $98k in one year.....apparently very good at her JOB(s)
Her father is on the Chicago Bears staff

Honestly, sometimes I’m blown away by the ignorance here. Look this could’ve been completely consensual. I get that.

But to act like there’s not a power gap between a guy making millions of dollars & a big public figure and somebody who works directly for him, including a perceived pressure to engage in an activity as an also possible outcome, is why companies across the world have rules about this.

So to act like she has no grounds to possibly Sue because of something completely spelled out so dramatically, in almost every company HR code, especially among bosses and employees who report to them, is absolutely laughable.

And then, even if she initiated it, he’s still supposed to know that he’s got a multimillion dollar contract that has a morals clause to it.

Stop reflexive defending everything

Some of these coaches think they are bulletproof. If I'm a coach I'm not touching any of the women working in the athletic department especially in the recruiting office. Some of you might be tender d-i-c-k-s. But, any woman in that line of work like Moore's former assistant was before he promoted her to his assistant are down for whatever in my opinion and I wouldn't touch them.
