Maybe this is not earth shattering to some of you, and will cause some disbelief in others, but if Henderson keeps playing in ACC play as he has thus far, he is a 1st round pick in the draft. The only question about him was the consistency of his jump shot. Now that his shot looks pretty good, his mix of skill, athleticism and ability to guard 2-3 positions is going to be too hard for NBA teams to pass on.

Enjoy watching Henderson this season in a Canes uniform.

Totally agree and have been saying that to myself every game since the lightbulb has turned on for him. Just too much of a freak show not to get drafted in round 2 if he continues at this level

Outside shot still needs work to be NBA ready.

Also, he'll be defended by much stronger/higher caliber opponents once in ACC competition than he has seen thus far.

He def has a good chance of elevating himself into being a "One and Done" player but we'll know more by late February.

There is literally zero chance he's 1 and done, especially in today's college basketball.

With no outside shot, and being a poor FT shooter, he's not a draftable NBA prospect.

A player like him will likely be a 4 year college player, here and/or somewhere else

I’m not a betting person but lets consider this wager for something nominal like $20

Henderson is drafted after year 1; I win
Henderson plays 4 years of college basketball; you win

Everything else is a push.
Do we have a deal?

Agreed, and why I wrote that he needs to continue to play like this in conference. But if he does, it’s a wrap. He’s too good of an athlete, defender and finisher already. His free throw shooting has already improved since the start of the season, at least in terms of his form if not the stats. And his jump shot looks more relaxed and cleaner.

If we make the NCAA tourney and he is still rocking and rolling, then he can move up draft boards.

Now we may get lucky if he has a good season but is slotted late in the 1st or into the 2nd like Yaxel Lendeborg was after last season, and decides to return for the right money.

Right now, in terms of an NBA comp, I've seen NBA "experts" say Shelton is a taller and longer Lu Dort. They both defend great, and use their strength on straight-line drives to get to the rim.

Wasn't Dort undrafted? Regardless, that won't happen with Henderson.

Interesting comp, and a really good player who did go undrafted. The accepted rumor/theory is that his agent asked teams not to select him in the 2nd round so they could pick the best spot for him.

I actually think Dort’s success will work to Henderson’s benefit.

I have enjoyed every minute of Shelton Henderson playing in a Miami uniform.
He is physically gifted enough right now to play in the NBA.
The only question is his ability to knock down jump shots. That is what he needs to show the rest of this season to determine if he is a one and done this year or if he needs a Summer of 1K jump shots a day to become a true 3&D wing player.
I think it comes down to ball handling (beating people off the dribble and not just bullying you way to the basket) and making open jump shots.

NBA comp right now: Kawhi Leonard without a jump shot or Xavier McDaniel.

That will get him drafted but being able to make open jump shots will keep him in the NBA and get him a 2nd and 3rd multi year contract extension.

Agree. It's not like Dort didn't stand out at Arizona State. He made his share of highlight reels and had more than a few scoring explosions in his games there.
