SHAQ, PICKNEY, McCLOUD

Keep the 3 we got this year and the 3 from next year and add Wilder to that next year and close up shop. You fix the LB depth and all 7 are what Miami Caliber LBs look like.

2016 -

McCloud - SLB
Pinckney - WLB
Quarterman - MLB

2017 -

Dunning - MLB
Kearney - SLB/WLB
Steed - WLB
Wilder - SLB

You can put Dunning and Quarterman at SLB but their best fit is at MLB.

Pinckney and Steed can play MLB but their best fit is at WLB.

McCloud and Wilder style of play and their attributes fit SLB to a tee. They could play MLB or maybe even WLB but I don't see a better spot than SLB for both.

Kearney the most versatile of the ones we have. I think he can play all 3 spots but I prefer him on the outside, either side outside is fine for him.

I can name you 3 kids who are right down the street at Booker T., Two with offers already for 2018 at LB that we should take. (Billy Joseph at MNW is going to be a DE)

Richt wanted Wilder real bad at UGA and they led at one point. Wilder is a priority. We lead as well.

If you didn't see what I mentioned in my old update thread from 12/7 few days ago, Cowan not likely coming here anymore due to what they told him. Backed off his silent.... If you ask me, I don't trust silents cause it's a half *** commitment. (He wants to be a MLB, but they want him as a DE/OLB. Now he's upset.)

Take Wilder and close up shop at LB for '16 and '17. We would reel in best group of LBs two years back to back.

Only other linebacker(s) I would take, is if a highly regarded kid from OOS wants in. Otherwise... we don't have to leave state and the last one is in our backyard at Carol City.

Cowan is probably going to grow into a DE....I wouldn't be surprised if that's the position he plays as a senior...

I also wouldn't be surprised if ultimately he's a cane - as a DE....

I think he's a future DE as well, because I see him outgrowing OLB.

Now as for him being a Cane. I wouldn't get my hopes up on that at the moment. He went from ready to commit officially to backtracking to his previous commit.

Hopefully the new staff understands that you get the kid on the roster, if he wants to try MLB let him, move him if needed later.

Speaking of big time OOS guys

I'm intrigued about this guy, will need to check out the film. see he just got offered.
see him and that Deejay Dallas kid are retweeting each others things. Top 10 in the rivals 100 for 2017 apparently.

I'm really starting to think about my commitment decision and I know I won't be committing to Georgia if the defensive staff or richt is gon

Glad to say I have been offered by the university of Miami!! #gocanes

soph highlights:
Nathan McBride - Hudl

Broke the state record in the 100m dash apparently despite being a 6'2 220 linebacker.

I would go after Brock Miller.

For what? We are good with the 3 we have

He's that **** good that's why! He has a nose for the ball, wherever the ball goes he goes. He can play with his hands on the ground or standing up! A TFL & Turnover machince... not the fastest but great instincts and football speed.

Check his tape

none of the LBs we're bring are fast (maybe Mccloud), don't want a 4th to be another "football speed" guy, we need fast guys period! Would love a Safety type ala Jon Beason or Jamal Carter that may or may not grow into an athletic LB

Miller is fast. Laser timed 4.7 as a sophomore. He finished second in the Miami SPARQ to Tyler Byrd.

He is probably the best athlete of the four. He is also a really good basketball player.
Shaq ran 4.72 laser at 233lbs..ran 4.68 by hand both times were the summer going into his JR.. Zach ran 4.74 down in Orlando..Mike has ran as fast as 4.55...they are all plenty fast enough. They all would have been in the middle of the pack at the last NFL combine

They are monsters. I would just like to add Brock Miller to the equation as a high upside guy. He may need a shirt (unlike the other three) but he has a lot of development potential because of his frame and athleticism.

I'd be shocked if we don't take four lbs this go round, depth is awful . Then mix in Gayots uncertainty

Grace, Harris, Owens, young, mccloud, shaq, Mike pickney, Mike smith, McCray, Jamie gordinier, Charles perry, King. For the spring along if we are not including gayot. Carter can possibly slide down as well

8 of those were 4star players . 5 of them got game time experience this year
Thats plenty especially if we are in a 4-3 then you have 3 mor coming in 17 with only 1 leaving...overloaded approx 44 scholly on defense..we need more dbs and DTs

The Brock Miller kid really intrigues me as a prospect

I think he is comparing them to these boys:
Jessie-Armstead_Michael-Barrow_Darrin-Smith.jpg

The three are the reflection of a system put in place by former Miami coach Jimmy Johnson and continued by his successor, Dennis Erickson.

The system takes advantage of speed, encourages resourcefulness and does not limit freedom.

Smith runs a 4.42 in the 40-yard -- and Armstead a 4.47. Barrow is the slowest of the group. He runs a 4.6.

"We recruited guys with speed and we let them use it," said Tommy Tuberville, Miami's linebacker coach. "We teach them technique, but we allow them to be able to deviate and do things on their own. These linebackers are not real big [Barrow is the heaviest at 230 pounds], but they play games with big offensive linemen. That's the only way they can survive."

Not sure how accurate those times were but here are some numbers form the combines:

I'm very familiar with all of those guys...if the Neo 3 Tha Hard Way...can reach half of the success as the mentioned predecessors ... we are in for some exciting times. They all need to come in and get stronger and faster.

We need to upgrade the position on quality not on numbers. If we are going to a 4-3 we are going to need more DEs. El Foldo had no clue what he was doing, our DB depth is all out of whack as well. LB is about reading keys, learning nuances of getting of blocks and bringing the pain.
