SHAQ, PICKNEY, McCLOUD

From the tone here it's like we are going to take in 30 kids...imo i think we have room for about 22 and we already have 18 committed. ..we have already started taking back offers..

I'd be shocked if we don't take four lbs this go round, depth is awful . Then mix in Gayots uncertainty

Grace, Harris, Owens, young, mccloud, shaq, Mike pickney, Mike smith, McCray, Jamie gordinier, Charles perry, King. For the spring along if we are not including gayot. Carter can possibly slide down as well

8 of those were 4star players . 5 of them got game time experience this year

but 3 of them are freshmen.

JMO Perry, Grace, Young and Owens are guys we can rely on next year. If Gayot makes a full recovery, we can add him to the list. Perry is a wildcard, but I feel good about him based on his hs tape. The freshmen trio is extremely talented but I don't think it's fair to expect freshmen, even EEs, who are not skill players to make an immediate impact.

Trent Harris is another wildcard...Where he plays really depends on what type of defense we run. If he can gain some short area quickness, trusty trent can help us as well. I don't expect anything out of McCary or Mike Smith. King most likely needs another year or two in S&C. Gordinier, although a coal shover, is probably the most ready out of McCary, King, and Mike Smith.

Exactly .

I also see Gordonier possibly being a DE, he's already in the 250's and that's as a freshmen.

I wouldn't count McCray or smith , they're hybrid types that pretty much nave no position . Neither has speed for lb in a 4-3.

King might need another year.

The lb depth here looks nothing like a big time d1 program, along with other positions

As a parent of a recruit that plays LB..Ive spent the last 4 yrs going to camp after camp and watching film of the top linebackers in the country...and i think UM has a good class of LBs coming in..dont need any more with this class and just three in the next class...The best linbackers I've seen in the last 4 years are Ruben Foster at Bama and RayQuan McMillian at Ohio State...both would be considered slow by this fourm ...but Imo they will both be top 20 picks..85 percent of what it takes to be an inside backer is mental...ManTai was slow..but he is a great backer he lacks in athleticism but makes up with brains...the shuttle is 10 times important that a 49...if LB runs more that 20 yards on any given play its because the d has been gashed..

I agree with everything you stated minus not needing to add another LB. We should never limit ourself for a number of reasons, adding a fourth will create competition and it will also set us up in a good position in case of injuries. Its better to be prepared than unprepared.

Mike smith needs to move back down to defensive end and become the pass rushing specialist he was in highschool. With the 4 you named that's already more than we had to work with this year down the stretch. Miami over the years have had linebackers that flashed and played extremely well including spence and perryman recently. Can't overload the position. We have more than 10 as it is, while possibly bringing in 4-5 more in 17( while having 3 already committed although I can see dunning moving down to defensive end in the future)

We only have 16 committed since the Evan Hinson decommitment

We're far from overloading the position, quite the opposite

We only have 16 committed since the Evan Hinson decommitment

And I see us bringing in 25
might be more than that, maybe 28. I think 3 of the early enrollees can count towards last class since we signed only 22 recruits from that class.

We can only have 85 schollys. .. so don't have to swap this years with last years. Cause we can't pull in no more than 24 or 25 before going over the 85 cap..and if a kid has one of those 85 schollys but will not be able to play he still keeps his scholly..

And there are kids on the team thats not on scholly that may earn one from the work they put in...

How many times did Denzel come of the field...how many times did Spence.. Barrios..Beason...Ray the Great...not too many

Kyle ...Trent is a DE nothing more nothing less Im more comfortable turning him into a DT then A LB
