Shalala became pres in 2001. The football victory fund and new Schwartz center didn't come to life until two seasons ago. 2001-2012 is over ten years of neglect.

Actuallythe Schwartz Center was announced in 2010. She addressed immediate needs first and has raised over 3 billion dollars in Momentum One and Two. From the write up on her announcement:

President Shalala’s presidency has seen an unprecedented growth in facilities totaling almost $2 billion of new construction and comprising 2.7 million square feet of projects completed or in process, plus 1.7 million of existing square feet renovated. Major projects on the Coral Gables campus include the BankUnited Center, Student Activities Center, University Village student housing, the Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence, and the Newman Alumni Center among others. Additions to the Miller School of Medicine campus include the Clinical Research Building, University of Miami Hospital, Biomedical Research Building, and UM Life Science and Technology Park. Next month the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science will dedicate the Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. SUSTAIN Building and Marine Technology & Life Sciences Seawater Complex.

When exactly does a tenant fix an owners house, and then when they offer to help, its not accepted and bungled? It's killing me to have to defend certain things, but facts are facts. The city had other plans and lots of political donors who owned the Miami politicians clamoring for the site. There was no way we were keeping the stadium unless we bought it, the land, and paid for all of the renovations ourselves, and there was no way we could afford that.

I was a student at the u during her tenure, undergrad and grad school and I can tell you she really didn't do much. Yes, she made public statements to the press but she was the president of the school! It was what she was supposed to do to please the board of trustees. Frankly I don't give a **** about most of her accomplishments. For her not fighting to keep us at the OB is unforgivable. Especially without any plans for the foreseeable future of having a place to play to call our own.

How utterly stupid to try to tie this in to politics. Clearly the real reason you don't like her, and wouldn't no matter what she accomplished at the school, is that she's "on the left."
