Serious Question: Are we recruiting anyone?

Florida the best job in the country? Why have only two coaches been successful there?
Bad hires. Good facilities, Big money boosters, on campus stadium, its Florida no state income tax, rich tradition and recruiting base. Play in the weaker SEC east.

I have no idea if Mario is interested, but I am tired of the "Nike money" crap. Nike doesn't give a tone of money to Oregon football; they give stuff - equipment, buildings, etc.. Anyone who does any research can see this. Mario is 26th in coaching salary.

The total salary for Oregon assistant coaches is about $6 million. That makes them the 13th ranked public school.

These are very good numbers. They are not holy s*** numbers.

That's all well and good, but what they're doing with their facilities is on par with anything in college football and in some cases (their T&F stadium) the best in the world.

A large part of that has been spearheaded by, you guessed it, Mr. NIKE Phil. Knight.

If someone legitimately comes at Mario and they need the money, it's there if they're convinced he's a man worth keeping.

Knight isn't just about one aspect of that program though. The vast majority of his donations have gone to things that benefit the school overall and have long term impacts. Well after he'll be gone, students and athletes there will be using structures he donated towards.

To date he's donated 1 billion dollars to Oregon. He's the single largest donor alive for any school. He has billions more (estimated worth 61 billion) so a coaching salary would be a drop in the bucket for him.

Florida is not viewed q top tier job, there’s a reason they settled on the last three coaches. None of the big fish they offered were interested.

Just need the right hire. This class won’t be saved by Cristobal. But the Young talent with portal kids gives the next coach 2 years to win big.
Oh yeah. 2022 class was toast a long time ago. Need to make some buzz in 2023/2024 because right now we have absolutely nothing going for us. Plan C and D kids won’t even think about us.

No question. 23 is loaded. This class is not. Makes sense when we missed on the kids obsessed with the SEC makes zero sense in a down year to reach. The portal makes a ton of sense when you look at what this group will bring back ( mostly sophomores and Juniors ) You now can add experienced talent, and go grab kids who are young but can improve the depth and overall talent. But if this program isn’t gonna pay the buyout, they had better
1- Force him to change staff members ( Justice, Patke, etc)

2- find the money to hire the right staff members and put money into recruiting.

We offered two new Corners & a couple OL’s just last week.

Also hosted a few recruits to the GTech game on unofficial visits.

But we’re not going hard for too many other spots & there’s also not much traction taking place because the season was a fail & the word is out that Manny is a goner.

Which is why it would’ve been more advantageous to just rip the bandaid off quicker or do what LSU did & announce a departure at the end of the season, because then you get a better gauge of which coaches will be interested in the job & that is always something that can be sold to recruits.

But likely, they are waiting before they make any moves until they know they have Mario secured.
I couldn't agree more. The school should let Manny go and begin the search. UW just fired their coach so now there's another high profile university that needs a coach. I don't think coaches will be kicking down doors to come to UM as many people on this board believe. The only thing attractive about the job is the young talent on the roster. UM is historically cheap and we the fan base have the second highest expectations in the country, only second to Bama. It's been proven that any good coach can come down to FLA and get talent so we no longer have that advantage and our history doesn't resonate with todays players because they've never seen a dominant UM. This job isn't what it once was.

This board might as well just have a picture of a tumbleweed and no threads. This class going to set us back yet again. Fun cycle. Ground hogs day
