I'm really excited about this group. There’s depth and talent at every position in the secondary. What stands out is how young these players were last season. X and OJ were true sophomores, while Fitz and Antoine were true freshmen. Poyser was also making the jump from the FCS level after transferring from Jacksonville State. All of them gained valuable game experience, and now they’ll pair that with another year of development in the program. If that growth continues, this has the potential to be one of the elite secondary units in the country.

DJ McKinney & Christian Gray.

I don't think they have a better collective Secondary than Miami, but by comparisons sake after OJ, Leonard Moore & McKinney are better than our next 2.

Miami is no doubt amongst the top 5 best Secondaries in the country.

Miami, Tennessee, Notre Dame, TTech & LSU.

Clemson, Oh ST & Texas have the potential to be in the top 5 group, but, as of now I would have them in the 6-10 range.

Got you. I thought Gray went to the league. I hear a lot about how great they were and wondered if they were better than us. Can’t wait to see what our offense does to them this year.
 
On that show yesterday with JD Brickel.

One of the other guys said at the beginning of the brief segment.

Phrasing something like this.

"Watching Miami's secondary last year was like watching a car wreck when they hit you "

I think we're going to be at at a minimum the same level. We will have a nasty Secondary.

I'm not a believer in Oregon's Secondary as a whole.

Brandon Finney had a terrific TF season & most of their guys are True Sophomore's, so they're young & have a upward trajectory. But I don't think they'll matchup well against the better passing Offenses in the B1G.

Indiana lost Ponds & they didn't replace him with anybody who is as half as good as he was. Jamari Sharpe is solid, but after him they don't have any stand alone players at CB or Safety that would warrant them being ranked that high. That's more so just a recency bias ranking IMO.

Oklahoma is definitely in my top 10. They have very good depth at CB & 2 solid upperclassmen starters at Safety.

UGA is overrated as usual. They have Secondary full of a LB's. The formula to exploit them is the same every year, spread'em out & attack the perimeter with the Deep ball. If you make them run, they can't cover downfield.

Oregons got a lot of talent. Their DLine is top 5 too, so that'll help the Young Dbs out as well. Finney was great last year like you said. Perich is going to produce at a top level. Offord should probably be ready to contribute. Obidegwu started to contribute last year, but would need to take a step up. They have the two top freshman Jett Washington and Davon Benjamin who may earn PT....Carl Williams and Aaron Flowers though, yeah idk bout them being all that good. Williams I'm pretty sure missed all last year at Baylor, and wasn't some elite player in 24.

I think we should be ahead of them. I'd say ND at 1 and us 2 is very reasonable/likely. I think Moore is the best DB in the country. And then adding McKinney was great.

As far as CB tandems Texas Techs will probably play and grade well. Idk how well they'll do against the best competition outside the B12. LSUs too with Picket and Woodland is quite nice.

I think UCLA sneakily actually has a solid underrated DB room. Would have been better had they kept Andre Jordan from transfering to Auburn though. Pleasant has been good. I like Barksdale and Tao Johnson as transfers. Their ENTIRELY DB room is like entirely 4th/5th year guys too, so they'll have the experience factor. And hey maybe Robert Stafford finally breaks out! lol

Corey Hetherman has made all the difference for this defense. I am sure he was a big reason for bringing in that secondary coach from kansas who will likely be good in helping out Jefferson. It will be a sad day to ever see Hetherman leave the Univ of Miami.
 
the music is trash ... but florida boy corey gets busy ... if you get past the clippers and eagles post, he's a great follow
