Search your soul and answer honestly: can Richt win a ship?

Every single sports team in Georgia is cursed, it's like the Red Sox, but for a state. They can't win if it's handed to them.

I have. My soul says yes...

Nice man, decent man, consistent, and a very good coach but I’m not sure he’s championship Caliber at a Miami level. Some will call me a troll and that’s fine, but I have concerns. I think the guy is a 9-10 win coach -which is AWESOME if you’re Michigan or Georgia, but Miami is just different. That won’t work here.

I WANT to believe, but I just don’t know. I see many things that’s concerning (schottenheimer styled playcalling, mediocre defense)

Yes he can just gotta stack top recruits and continue to be in the CFP and ACC title conversation

If you're objective, what has Richt done at Miami that makes you think he can't win a National Championship here?

Jeezus some of you guys are off your rocker.

Of course Richt can win a ‘ship here. And he will. My lawd this year was just scratching the surface of what this team could become.

If he continues bringing in talent like we are, and finds a QB who is at least able to not f it all up, the sky is the limit for this program.

Only if we reach Top 5 level consistently in terms of recruiting and preseason ratings. The low end of that range, like the 4 and 5 teams, typically are assigned odds like 7-1 or 8-1 to win the title.

So that is logically manageable if Richt coaches another decade or more.

However, if we get stalled in the current range closer to 9 or 10th on the preseason rankings and preseason odds list, that is more like 20-1 or 25-1 odds in a typical year.

Theoretically you are 3 times less likely to win a title from the #1 0 slot than the #4 or #5 slot. That's an easy way to look at it.

My answer is No. I don't expect a Canes national championship under Richt. But I don't make it as much of an underdog as a year ago.

Okay, I'll play. We sit at #6 /#7 right now with 7 spots to fill. Just the volume moves us into the Top 5. We sit #6 for 2019 and #1 for 2020. Yes, still way early but we are trending well. Also, the 2018 class is undervalued in my opinion. Not because I'm a Miami fan but what I saw and read. Our teams showed every well collectively in the Army and UA games. Probably the best group in total. Silvera was the best defensive interior lineman in these games. Same for Scaife on the offensive side. What holds Jordan back from his 5th star is 2 inches. At the college level that is insane. The kid is an instant impact player.

YES. 2 year improvement. Last year finally won a bowl game after countless years. This year we won the ACC Coastal. Not more could be expected. Half of our roster is filled with Golden players. Look at last year's recruiting class. Now this year we are ranked in top 5 in recruiting. What more do you want from this man?

If he insists on continuing to call offensive plays....I have serious doubts.

The sample size with Richt is large enough at this point that we can pretty definitively say what he is.....a good/solid NCAA coach. No better , no worse. He needs good coordinators around him and right now his stubbornness with regards to play calling is beginning to annoy me.

A lot of below average coaches have won championships Coker, Chizik come to mind.
We seem to be spending $$$ and recent raises to Dugans and Kool show a commitment to winning.
facilities are on the improve IPF etc. were increasing staff although not to Clemson, Bama, LSU,OSU
and now UGA biggest difference i see between Miami and the big boys is LOS control.
need to hire a "specialist " in the S&C team and will be fine.
Richt has
I just keep thinking how bad we were once Davis and his players left & am thankful we are well coached
live in Atl. and am glad to start hearing fans of other schools Bashing Miami
he can get the job done.....of course i would bet a mortgage payment if we would have hired Butch
so i have have some lingering uncertainty
across the board. need to keep stacking talent & yes he can win a title.

We're getting closer just need a stud under center. If Perry is the real deal our offense could be unstoppable.

Serious Q, do you think Saban gets 10 wins with this roster?

I think Richt can win a NC here. But his coaching alone doesn't win a NC. Like others have said he'll need multiple Top 5 quality recruiting classes in a row. And even then I think he may need a special QB to win a NC. Chizik had Cam Newton at Auburn, Mack Brown had Vince Young at Texas - that's why they won a National Championship.

Check out Saban’s 08 team that went undefeated and lost its final two games to Florida and Utah. That team went 12-0.

His 08 class was huge and super crucial. But outside of Ingram and Jones - most of those guys contributed on special teams or didn’t play.

Not much “talent” on that 12 win team.

So yea, I think Saban could’ve won 10+ with Malik & Company.

What you are saying is he hit his ceiling in year 2. This is before seeing how this and the next year's recruiting classes pan out. This self entitled BS needs to stop. You are following a program that won its first bowl game in a decade during Richt's first year. If you can't enjoy the University of Miami improving its record, then find another team. Not every coach is Nick Saban.

So is it about improving their record or winning championships. That's what he is getting millions for.
