Fuggg it, I’ll enter the guessing game. DVD followed this guy at USF. Was hetherman’s cb coach on the JMU staff

Maybe we can bring Wesley mcgriff in as an analyst? Gotta be weird for DVD he is now auburn’s cb coach and the guy he replaced was his db coach at miami lol (crime dog mcgriff)
Was discussed and guessed a bit earlier by us. Kinda interesting to land on this guy considering Todd Orlando and Golesh got rid of him at usf.

could Be. Another reason that Kansas dude is unlikely is former FIU DC Todd Orlando was the DC at the time so he signed off on the firing.

Golesh didn’t take Orlando or Kevin Patrick with him to Auburn; although I’m pretty sure it was mandated that he had to keep DJ Durkin as the DC. Same defensive line coach from the previous staff too.

Mario most likely isn’t plucking someone who is perceptively down on their luck. I guess it wasn’t his complete responsibility, but we did just flip & steal the best Kansas recruit who happened to be a DB as well lol.
I suspect it will be Terry Jefferson.
He's coached here for a few years under Addae and Etheridge, Harris and he coached a very good DB group at Jax State.
Bump him up and bring a young guy to replace his asst CB gig.

Was a cb coach at jmu from 2019-2023, overlaps with heatherman

Cowboys secondary new coach now. This cig tree is growing

Coached all 3 db positions at jmu but just got hired at ucla

https://iuhoosiers.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/ola-adams/4347 Maybe steal this guy lol he seems like a future star

Im done guessing who mario will hire lol

Golesh fired him, replaced him with DVD.
I wonder if it was recruiting related?

Not sure if this is Brad Kaaya’s Chaminade or not, but that timeframe would be Brad’s sophomore year; Bar Milo a freshman

Birkett came to Maine following one season at Chaminade High School in California (2011), where he was defensive backs coach, helped the team to a 10-2 record while reaching the 2011 California Interscholastic Federation semifinals.

Apparently usf had the 129th ranked pass defense the year he was fired. Because of him being there only for a year, some fans wondered if he was just the scapegoat for Todd Orlando.

Oh kinda like Blake Baker being scapegoated here for Manny’s trash *** scheme.
Yeup.

On December 4, 2022, Golesh was hired as USF's sixth head coach, inheriting a program that had gone 4–29 over the previous three seasons. In his first year, Golesh led the Bulls to a 7–6 record, including a 45–0 shutout victory over Syracuse in the Boca Raton Bowl—marking the program's first bowl win since 2017.

USF went from 126th (the year before he got there) in passdef to 129th (Birkett’s only season) to 133rd (the year after he was fired). Unfortunately for him, the year after he left USF was the second worst in the nation in passing defense; the only team that was worse was Tulsa—where he had taken a job as a defensive analyst. Hilariously ironic unless you’re the mf living thru it lol.

Seems like he is a very good coach who has been an underemployed journeyman the past two seasons because when Hetherman went to Rutgers, in 2022, as a LB coach; he was not a DC who could bring him on board. When he became the DC at Minnesota, they already had co-DC Nick Monroe and Fleck’s guy Danny Collins working with the DBs.

Other connections to Miami include: Matt Lubick and Matt Birket coached together at Kansas this past season.

Will Harris and Kansas co-OC Matt Lubick, son of former Miami Hurricanes DC Sonny Lubick, coached together for one season at Washington under Chris Peterson. Lubick also coached under Dennis Erickson at Oregon State and Arizona State.
