Search for New Position Coaches

To be fair. Jesus would have a hard time convincing big time talent to sign with FSU

In his defense, he landed some pretty good guys on paper. 5* Charles Lester, 4* Top 100 CB Cai Bates, and 5* Chuck Kennon all committed to FSU while he was the secondary coach. Lester is a bust though and I believe Bates has already transferred. Kennon just signed and is a true Frosh so TBD.

I thought you were gonna list Matthew, Mark, Luke and John...definitely missed on Judas though...

I mean even if we got Wadood why wouldn't Jefferson get the CB job and Wadood the nickel job vacated by Jefferson....

Corey Raymond only wants to be at LSU. The only reason he was at UF for that short stint, is because Big Game Brian Kelly's ego wanted to be in control when he first got to LSU & let CR go, but had to bring him back because his CB recruiting & scouting suffered for it.

CR bleeds Purple & Gold, he's retiring there.
Yes, I'm saying back when Raymond was out at LSU and then went to UF. Mario should have snagged him then regardless who we had on Defensive staff. Who knows if Raymond would have left us for LSU when they wanted him back. Maybe... Though I'd bet he wouldn't have left us to go back to Kellys staff. With Lane there... probably more likely.

He signed duds, but was recruiting really good players too...

Which means he didn't sign the really good players?

So, what would he be getting credit for?

Sounds like giving an A for effort, which is nice for elementary school children I guess...

I kinda want the CB's Coach of the team to be, you know, good at his job... But that's just me, I understand my standards are a little higher than most of you guys.
My point is that maybe the fsu brand is working against him as a recruiter. Recruiting for FSU has gots to be hard right now (pause). Dem ****** is straight ***. Trying to convince high level high school kids to go to that school right now is probably like trying to sell ***** at the Y in San Francisco, in 1983.

Jefferson played the position, coached the position as a full-time coach at JaxState, where they had pretty solid DB play and he knows this defense from having assisted Etheridge and Heatherman. Unless he doesn't project well as a recruiter and/or is overrated as a teacher of CBs, I can't see the problem in promoting him. Perhaps the holdup can be the search of Jefferson's old position if he gets promoted. This is where I think where can hire a former player looking to become a college FB coach.

If Richardson cab handle it, Miami should hire a dedicated QB coach. Especially if high school QBs are going to start being a priority. Let them develop and ans let Dawson just scheme it up

yea if they were keeping jefferson as cb coach.....i want them to go ge santana moss's cousin from FSU Greg Moss and slot him to the nickel role Jefferson had. He has coached cbs at group of 5 level and have been at fsu the last few

Hurts fsu as well as he is a good recruiter in south florida

This doesn’t make much sense considering Wadood has been at Oregon for his whole collegiate coaching tenure, recruiting is paramount to the position group, and accolades (such as his recent one) are part and parcel of a resume.
Right. Wadood was off-field roles for 2-3 years and then got pushed up to the CB coaching role because he had the oversight of a vet like Hampton. His resume pre-2025 was 3 years of support staff at Oregon and 2 years coaching corners at Long Beach Poly HS.

Jefferson has the same 3 years of experience in off-field/support roles at Miami and then 2 years running his own room at Jax State and then came back and added another year of technically being "off-field" but essentially being the Nickels coach with the new rules on how you can coach players with analysts and support staff.

Jefferson, right now, in 2026 has a better resume than Wadood in 2025 when he was named Oregon's CBs coach.

100% and I have been saying this from the beginning. All of the names linked to this opening are mediocre. Jefferson has the better resume than nearly all of them.

The only 2 things I can think of is Jefferson isn’t a grinder like Mario wants…. Or Heatherman isn’t sold on him.

Ah yeah that I see where you are coming from on field experience standpoint however Wadood was far more important in Oregon’s recruiting success than Jefferson was in Miami’s. One example to illustrate this is TJ not having a 247 recruiter page while Wadood does & has a dozen recruits listed under his profile; going back to 2023; a few of which were his former Long Beach Poly players.

But we are talking about Wadood in 2026 now and if he is brought in it’s not like we are losing Terry. He was also only off-field for one season; as the director of community engagement in 2022 then his title changed the following year. Martin and Hampton did not get along in 2023. This is from Lanning in 2024 so Wadood had already been working with the cornerbacks prior to 2025.

When martin left, Oregon’s reporters wrote that Wadood worked with cornerbacks since he got to Oregon so he was off-field/on-field as well.

Graduate assistant Rashad Wadood has spent the last two seasons working with the cornerbacks in Eugene and could be a name that's up for consideration to fill the now vacant role.

The plan was for him to always become cornerbacks coach at Oregon. As shown in the still shot that i posted from the video Oregon put out, no one is in the room with Wadood while he is coaching cornerbacks. Chris Hampton did his instruction in a completely separate larger room.

“I knew Dan was going to be on a fast track, so we always talked about when he got (a head coaching) opportunity, wanting to do that together,” Lorig said. “I had no idea that it would,d be at a dream location for a job; that just made it an extra bonus.”

Moreover, Rashad has a co-db coach of the year award, has coached multiple pros and future pros at Oregon, and had the 2nd lowest passing completion percentage at Oregon last year. These are all apart of a resume. There are numerous guys that he, Loring, Martin, and Hampton coached are guys that Wadood led the recruiting process on to bring them to Oregon.

Loring was Wadood’s coach at ASU. Dan Lanning was a GA under Joe Loring at Arizona State when Wadood was a cornerback there. Loring was ST/CB coach. 2026 is the first year that Loring does not have nickels coach under his job responsibilities.

When Lanning first gets the Oregon job, he brings in Loring under the same role as well Demetric Martin, who knew Wadood well from coaching his brother at UCLA, to jointly lead the DB room with the longterm plan of Wadood advancing in responsibilities yearly as he did these past 4 years; wadood is basically in the same GA role in 2023 that Lanning was at ASU; except with way more recruiting pull. Wadood stepped into a situation where he knew all the guys above him, organizationally, for a decade.

As Pete mentioned on the podcast and Gaby mentioned in his mock class, Donte Wright would only be in the class based off the strength of his relationship with Wadood. That alone gives him a major advantage over Jefferson, and that’s before getting into his other extensive network ties out west. Like his family being the lead administrators for the Snoop Youth Football League.
