@JHallCanes it’s because of people like you, together, we make CIS a safer place to poRst

Reports for these hirings in 2025 were published on:

Corey Hetherman; January 11th

Zac Etheridge; January 28th

Damione Lewis; February 11th

Will Harris; February 13th

Last year, it took Mario 48 days from the end of season until the staff was full with the hiring of Will Harris.

The similar comparison to the 2024-2025 transition is the 2023-2024 transition.

It was reported the Miami hurricanes hired Chevis Jackson in February 18th, 2024, about a dozen days after hiring Matt Merrit. Those were the only two positions needed to be filled. An efficient 52 days were taken to fill out two spots.

More hiring dates:

Mar 3, 2022 — Miami coach Mario Cristobal hired former Texas Longhorns star Rodrique Wrightas their new defensive ends coach, confirmed by Inside The U

Feb 6, 2022 — Miami has hired Michigan's Josh Gattis as its new offensive coordinator, per a source

Feb 9, 2022 — Almost a week after reportedly accepting the job, the University of Miami officially announced Kevin Steele as its new defensive coordinator

Now we went deeper into the postseason than ever before so it’s understandable Mario is having some trouble. Our season ended on January 19th compared to the relative dates of December 28th for last year, and Mario accepting the job December 6th in 2021.

So the two longest stretches it has taken Mario to fill his on-field staff is that first year when he hired Rod Wright 86 days after the report of him taking the Miami HC job.

After going 5-7 and ending our season on November 26th, it took him 95 days to finish the staff with the hiring of Kevin Beard on March 1st, 2023.

I won’t count these ones because both men were already in the building; however, during spring ball, on March 27th 2023, it was announced that Woodiel will be the new tight ends coach while Field moved off-field to recruiting. On March 2nd 2023, it was reported Jason Taylor was the new defensive ends coach.

We are currently at 50
days since the national championship game. That is the average amount of days it has taken in the past two seasons to finish up.

By the looks of it, Mario is in line to continue this three year trend of finishing the staff up within two months; after needing an average of 90 days to complete the staff the first two seasons on the job. But you never know with Mario.

Cristobal's Miami is no flash in the pan. Last year was neat. This year needs to be something more. The road back up the mountain begins March 24 as the Hurricanes open spring ball and begin the next chapter of a story Cristobal believes has just started to be written.

Within a twelve day window we’ll know

it sure doesn't feel like the staff is working 20hour days to find a coach that wants to work 20hour days.....

Its a harder hire because harris probably leaves next year so it has to be a guaranteed multi year hire

Thats definitely a lazy hire if so
I would never characterize a Mario hire as lazy. Underwhelming given our performance on the field and the talent we have sure.

But Mario has earned the benefit of doubt. I’ll take this as he couldn’t pull someone that would be a homerun at recruiting, coaching, and culture.

This really is an indictment towards Pat Surtain.

I think Mario doesn’t want to bring in anyone that would possibly harm the culture.

He’s done the big hire that had the resume and it didn’t work.

Let’s see what happens especially with recruiting. That’s where I will be watching. Mario knows he can coach and the players know him…. What will the high end recruits think.

If he turns Poyser into a day 2 or higher pick it will jumpstart his credibility since he was with him both at JSU and here. I’m biased Poyser is one of my favorite players in the team.
