THIS!

They hired the best firm at this, and notably is fully integrated into the NFL. No Paul DiMare, interesting.
Because he has already made the decision - Butch.
SMH @ two women and Blake James making the call on the new coach
Gonna be another clean cut nice guy beta male like Golden
Smh
I guess my Butch Hired thread was nuked ****** Mods
WHy is a dyke from UM part of the hiring process

i doubt it. He is what is called a 'whale' (no pun intended). And UM has very few whales = boosters who write fat checks. He also has a seat at the table which is not a given for whales in other programs. And what do we know about the others??
The search advisory committee will provide James with input on the process and on candidates. Members of the advisory committee include Board of Trustees members Hilarie Bass, David Epstein and Steve Saiontz; Deputy Director of Athletics Jennifer Strawley and former UM standouts Jonathan Vilma and Heisman Trophy winner Vinny Testaverde.
Bass is co-chair, Epstein?? I've got nothing, and Saiontz is Millers brother in law :/
What's the story with Jennifer Strawley?? Is this the person that's been alluded to within the Hecht that does not like Butch?
I don't know. This whole search firm and committee business seems really CYA. Doesn't anybody know how to do a job anymore?? Pfft...Blake.
''Doesn't anybody know how to do a job anymore?? Pfft...Blake.''
I agree with you 100%. Forget to send his paycheck and I bet he gets off his ***!
Agree!!!
Is Paul DiMare being elbow out of the decision???
Is Paul DiMare's checkbook out of the equation?

this is what scares me.....this lil tidbit from the Palm Beach Post:
"The final decision will be made by James, who was hired in Feb. 2013 and has hired VOLLEYBALL, ROWING, AND WOMEN'S SOCCER COACHES IN HIS TENURE. Despite James' relative inexperience, a senior BOT member who has had previous involvement with football coaching searches said he has no issue w/ James making the hire."
Oy vey...this is the guy we're expecting to make the final call...the guy who's "compentently" hired a volleyball, a rowing, and a WOMEN'S soccer coach.
I went from being elated that Golden was fired, to curious of our hire, to feeling very uneasy about who we may hire.

I asked the same question this weekend. Ironically, I liked that she's apparently reliant on some dudes in her circle of friends who are shrewd businessmen. At least she seems to know she doesn't know much and will cede to those who might be more helpful. That's more than is said about some of the others.
All hearsay from mutual acquaintances, though.

I used to work with Hilarie. She is a very sharp woman that doesn't put up with BS. I think she is a good pick for the committee.
Stop using facts. No one here wants to deal with them.Seems like the consultancy firm is really just a way of legally skirting the rules that govern tampering: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...le-of-search-firms-in-college-coaching-hires/
A lot of the schools in that article ended up hiring an obvious choice anyway, but the thing is, you don't want to publicly swing and miss, so you contract out the "back channeling" piece of it to avoid a lawsuit and potentially save a ton of face, and then break off the firm for doing part of the dirty work.
End point: the firms are functionally fairly useless...it's not like they're going to dig up some miracle candidate for this job that none of us has ever heard of. But they probably function as insurance against making an expensive process even more expensive.

She's very smart. So is Steve Hawking. I don't want him picking my football coach either.

She will defer to experts, I am sure. Smart people tend to know their limitations.

Why would you have someone on a football coach search committee who doesn't know about football and has to defer to someone else? What's the point? If you feel like you need a committee to find a football coach, why not just have a search committee comprised of a few people who know football and what it takes to be successful here?
